Yes!!!! The inner fender wells worked wonders. The cut fenders look cool but the lack of an inner fender just pummels the heck out of the cab and causes leaks.

Hey buddy!! I've been really busy this summer. Since I have the summer off, I try I do as much as I can before the school year starts again. Been doing alot of traveling and side work.

I have the engine about 95% done and ready to go it, just need to find the time to pull my runner in the shop and start pulling the current engine.

Hopefully I will be able to next week.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Just checking in on you. Seems like everything does try and get in the way of a build. The weather is just to hot here or muggy. Wasnt that long ago it was to cold.

Hey terry! I have been so busy this summer with my boys and traveling. BUt I still feel like I have not accomplished anything.

I am planning on trying to pull the engine next week when I am back to work at the school. I will be there everyday, so I will have more time to mess around with it.

I was also thinking about doing an OD green Paint job while I was in there.

Hey man!! I was just getting ready to do a quick update. I pulled the runner into the shop today. Finally!!! I swapped the doors out this afternoon. You guys might think I'm crazy for ditching the electric doors but the ones that I got from (283yotacrawler) are manual win windows and are in better shape. My passenger door was rotting really bad.

I'm planning on starting the engine removal tomorrow morning and hoping to have it out no later than Friday.

I will make sure to post up some pics in the AM

Lol you're getting rid of power windows and I just started running the wires on mine today haha

Hey why don't you just drill out the holes for the new door panels? And run the wires through the hinge area. It should work. I know the electric motors and manual ones are both interchangeable. They fit in the pre made holes on the door.
Unless you don't want power windors then I understand.

Well part of me wants them and part of me does not. The passenger window makes HORRIBLE sounds and is only a matter of time before it goes out. It is also rotting very badly on the inside where it meets the window pillar.

Plus my drivers door was pretty banged up near the mirror. Im not sure what I am going to do with the old doors just yet. Might throw them on craigslist and see if I can get some cash for them. The door panels are in great shape as well as everything else on them.

You think it was the motor that was going bad? Because when I looked at the motors on mine I noticed they look a lot like the rear window motor. And the rear window motor can be replaced with a camery motor.

Started tearing in to the Runner today a little more.

So far it has been slow going to this point.

Coolant drained and radiator removed. Upper intake removed today.

Got bellhousing bolts out and motor mounts loose this afternoon.

Tomorrow, I need to remove PS lines, Two more grounds and its ready to yank!!!!

Nice. Finally some updates lol

I like those tacomas too. Thats originally what I wanted. But they were way too far out of my price range. I love my 4runner but sometimes I think I should have gone with a Tacoma. Better mileage, more economic and powerful engine. Newer technology and fewer emissions. I just can't get icer tge look of mine though. I love the first gen 4runner body styles a lot more. Some day ill juat swap in a tacoma engine. This way I have the best of both worlds lol

Hey rich. I was really slacking in the pic and work department. Hahaha. I really love the Tacomas, especially that body style. I also agree with you on the High$$ they still claim. But hopefully someday I will have another one. Really kick myself in the A$$ for getting rid of my 09 DBL cab Taco. But what do you do.....

A 3.4L swap into your runner would be awesome and Ideal!! Still a bada$$ offroad machine, but also a smooth runner (no pun intended) on the road with Loads more power!!

Hoping to get the engine totally out of the runner today. We shall see how the day progresses. I currently have 4 classes that I am teaching and they do not really get the shop time like last year. I have them doing job shadowing at a Local GMC dealer in town.

Glad to see you making progress!! I always thought the 2.7 would be a good swap. The 3.4 has plenty of power but is fuel thirsty!

Either one would definitely be a great swap. But I know you and I agree that a diesel swap would be BadA$$$!!!!!!!!!!

Well I forgot to snap a pic before I turned the lights off in the shop. So sorry for the crappy photo. All that is left is the top two bell housing bolts and its coming out. Hopefully today.
