ok so i finally got my truck into the shop and i have started dissasembly, sorry these pics are very crappy but the next ones i hope will be better
ok so got all the fenders off, hood off, the doors and the interior. i pulled up the carpet and found a nice surprise, the rear cab mounts rusted right through the floor and that is why my cab always looked to be leaning back a little the front is good, my rockers are alright and ya, so i picked up a HUGE peice of sheet metal for 60 bucks and on monday i will start fixing floors and stuff

Fenders and hood? Is this a show truck, or a wheeler? I vote for hitting up the scrap yard for those parts, and using your cash for some gears or something mechanical that would help off road. But I guess it all depends on your style.

Oldgold, yes, the 22r is a newer one, came outta a 84, the origional motor had 409,000 km on it and it was dead so the PO swaped in a newer one from a parts truck only to find out she knocks, so its time to rebuild her,
4banginrunner, yea man 1 gen rust repair is SOOO much fun(that was sarcazim) i what i cut out of there, i have to try and fabricate ALLL new with just your basic hand tools, and a welder, should be fun none the less hehe, at least the other side is good so i can copy from that

yes, i am from manitoba canada, my truck has the usuall rust like cab mounts and floor, but this truck was parked out in a field for 3 years before i bought it, i almost done fixing the floor, i just need to weld in the new pieces. and patch the frame and rebuild motor and she should be good to go

THANKS EVERYBODY FOR THE COMPLEMENTS, ya, the key to welding sheet metal is to NOT try and make one continuious bead, but MANY tiny spot weld all very close together, it makes it look like a bead, but it has less heat and wont warp your metal
oh and by the way, all metal work i do, is with a ballpeen hamer, diegrinder and a bench vise

did more work today, got the cab off, and started cutting rotton cab mounts off, and i also started hiting frame with a hammer to find how much rust(rot) there actually is and well, the pics speak for them selves, so if anyone has a GOOOOD frame for a 82 short box for cheap, shoot me a PM we can figure out shipping.

yea, it wasent that bad when i bought it, till i started hitting it with a hammer. i am going to keep on cutting out the rust and fixing it until i can find a new frame i would also consider a long box frame, but it would have to come with a longer drive shaft, what would be the best welder to use to fix the frame, a 220 volt miller gas welder, or a miller stick welder OR a miller tig welder?
