[QUOTE=yotaboy82;50986235]Oldgold, yes, the 22r is a newer one, came outta a 84, the origional motor had 409,000 km on it and it was dead so the PO swaped in a newer one from a parts truck only to find out she knocks, so its time to rebuild her,
Well, the more square shaped valve cover suggests that the engine came from an 85, which could possibly be converted to EFI. That's be a cool project. Nice work on the body repair, and I think that frame can be saved with some serious plating.

well, i got more work done on the old yoter today, cut out all rot on the outer drivers side frame, and started building inner rockers and outter rockers
the frame is starting to be quite a job, i have a 85 frame here also thats in a little bit better condition, can i just use that one or do i have to keep fixing the one i have
here is pics

For a man with limited tools you are doing a great job, and you welds look pretty good too. I love a good project and seeing it progress from one thing into another.
But.. I have to be honest, with all the rust that I have seen in the pictures and then the frame, i'd scrap that truck or put it to the side as a parts donor and find another one in a bit better shape to start off with.
You are doing good work so far, im going to keep an eye out for this thread. Best of luck and keep the pictures coming!

well, tomorrow i am going to go to the local welding/macheining place and see if they can make me a whole new frame this time with thicker steel, and also it will have ZERO!!! holes in it, so that these canadian roads wont affect it, the cab i am not worryed about, i am guessing 2 months and the cab will be done and by that time the new frame will be done, so i can start peicing it back together then, to pull the motor and rebuild the whole thing, with a 20r head and performance cam and headers.

so the brand new frame is a no go, but i got all the peices to fix it cut out and just to try and roll the frame and stuff to the 220 welder so i can do a nice job, i am scared to try fixing it with the 110 gas welder on high power might not be enough, but anyways i got the motor pulled and almost striped
another thing, i pulled the oil pan and check bearings, and 2 of the 4 there is NO bearing left on the rods, so i need a new crank and 2 rods, i drove it like this for about a week hehehehe just after i bought it. so since i am very low on cash, i am ordering a engine rebuild kit off ebay, its like 360 bucks for new pistons, bearings, freeze plugs, oil pump, water pump, ALL gaskets wrist pins, wrist pin clips, and i am gonna try and order a header, webber, and a nice cam for it as well

a litle bit, but, the way it sits right now, has only taken me about a month, so i figure i should have the cab back on the frame in roughly 3 weeks, buy then my motor rebuild kit will be here and then i can startsanding the cab and painting it 2006 voodoo blue, while my buddy rebuilds the motor, he has done one before, so he knows what he is doing

I like how they say that if you aren't satisfied with any of the rebuild parts you can return them hassle-free. Kind of a hassle once your engine's put back together and back in the truck...
Anyway, hopefully it's good quality stuff!
Wish I could take my truck down to the frame. Someday, hopefully.

yea i know, it sucks. but i am starting to work on the frame, some of you guys might be like, WHAT!, but its the only welder i had or could use. so i used the 125 gas welder on high heat and a nice slow wire speed. it turned out very nice, but will it hold?, here is some pics

Good luck!
