Also Gmack. Put your spare oil filter in a waterproof air tight durable bag or container or it will rust. Also if you carry spare u-joints do the same with them.

My old block was bored already and the cylinder walls had "waves" in it.. I had Donnie (he helps with things I can't figure out) look at it.. He said the "waves" were to much to bore out.. It was caused by the broken rings slapping around, if that makes any sense..

As far as spare u-joints goes, I carry a spare rear drive shaft...Well greased.

Hey Mark, I can't blame you, your truck needs to be preserve for future generations......

What was that link you sent me (text) the E-bay one? I couldn't open it.

It was a radio bezel. Dood won't come off $200.00 for it. That's outrageous. I've about decided to leave it as is, and put an equalizer back in it (or a CB maybe lol) and just stick a cassette or 8 track, hahaha, in where the radio was. lol.
I mean, me and a buddy drinking beer and cutting up that bezel in his garage when we were 23... it's part of the history of the truck. It'd seem wrong to make it look factory again.
I would like to have a bluetooth switch though from my cellphone, or Aux in or something like that.

I haven't been able to do much on the truck lately.... I actually took some vacation time to put the cage and new seats in it.. Well as BAD LUCK would have it, the day before I started my vacation, my Dad was in a VERY SERIOUS wreck.. A family friend was driving my Mom's new Toyota van, hit a dip on the edge of the road, went in the ditch and rolled it twice end over end..

My Dad, 74, broke his back, a rib and was banged up. Louette broke her sternum, wrist and got a 5 inch gash on her head... Amazingly they both walked out on their own.
Well I have been taking care of my Dad (No easy task) and I have even MORE respect for nurses and those that care for the elderly..

My sisters have started giving me a break once in a while..
Well the last time I went wheeling, I busted a tail light and they ain't cheap..

The other day I was messing around in the cave and stumbled on (tripped over) a brush guard that I had cut up to mount on my front bumper...It didn't look right, so I didn't use it.. Any how the ends of the guard fit around the tail lights. So with a little cutting, grinding, banging, welding and cussing, I have tail light guards...

Waiting for the paint to dry and I will try to get them installed in the next few days..

Opinions??

X2 - glad to hear they both walked away. Your dad is my dad's age, taking care of them can be a pain..like you I respect those that care for the elderly.

The headlight guards look great

Thanks guys.... He is getting better, but it is gonna be a long slow road to full recovery..
My Mom had a stroke about 2 months ago, she has been in rehab and has made an AWESOME recovery.. She gets to come home Sunday, hopefully she will motivate Dad.
it amazes me how their love keeps them going..

I am getting her car cleaned up to go pick her up. She bought it in 1966 for $850 from a friend that was getting divorced and didn't want his ex to get it...... All original 389/6 pack / 4speed. And, yes it is a BLAST to drive.

Wow that sounds like a great story, my gf has a 87 sirocco built for the track and she says she wants to keep it all her life and I hope she does. I wish all the best to your mom and dad and I know it's not always easy, great job on the tail light guards that will definately come in handy in the trails.

Took the Goat to pick up Momma from the rehab center this morning... She cried and said "You really surprised me, didn't you?" On the way home I was telling her some of the minor issues the car was having from sitting all the time.. She looked over at me and said "Then you need to run the crap out of it." Well when we got out of town, Oak Ridge...I opened it for her.. Hit a 100mph before dropping in to 4th gear.. I asked Mom, feels good don't it?? Her reply was, It feels DAMN GOOD...

We got to the house and my Dad asked my sisters if it was thundering (the Goat rumbling) ....The look on his face when Mom walked in the door was priceless...

2 months ago the doctor said my Mom may be bed ridden the rest of her life...He surely didn't know her.. She has beat breast cancer twice, had 5 surgeries, 2 heart attacks and 2 open heart surgeries.... she is the toughest 4'11" package of dynamite I have ever known....

Two of my heroes..

UPDATE: The elders have been released on their own recognizance...They have both made great improvements, but still can't (and may never be able to ) drive.. But at least we don't have to stay with them 24/7.

Hopefully I will be able to start playing with my truck again.. It has sat so long, the battery is completely dead, UGH.
