Hopefully I will be able to start playing with my truck again.. It has sat so long, the battery is completely dead, UGH.
Glad your folks are doing better buddy.
The truck will always be there.

Got a little bit done this weekend (Wed & Thurs)
Most importantly AC in the cave..

Then I made a place to hang the doors out of the way..(the full doors will be here most of the time)

I also repainted my old, old 1st Gen Emblem and reinstalled it on the hood.

Got the grill and head light buckets repainted too.. Hopefully I can get everything put back together this weekend (Mon.& Tues.) Then get started on the engine again...

mlaurie, I found it on the grill of an older 2 wheel drive in a junk yard.. The truck was the same body style as the "first Gen" 4x4's but I have no idea what year it was.

Went out to the cave the other day and the truck wouldn't start. It has been sitting all month so I figured it just needed a boost. First the NEW battery cable was loose on the NEW battery. Well I tried to tighten it, broke it. UGHHHHHH So I bought a new and improved heavy duty brass terminal.. Put that on and boosted the truck, as soon as I took the booster box off, the truck died. So I put the slow charger on it. Well a few hours later, she fires right up. So just to be safe, I get my trusty little multi-meter out and check things out. Aaaaaaaaaaand my NEW alternator is not PUTTING OUT.... So it sits.

I ordered a BOSCH alternator this time (will be here in 10 days). That will be alternator # 9 since I have had this truck. They last any where from 6 months to 6 minutes. I even had one BURST into FLAMES. Any ideas? I don't want to do the GM swap if I can avoid it.

Got the BOSCH alternator on and everything seems to be working.....

Now to get time to put the cage in...

It has been CRAZY the passed few months. And to make things worse my Mom had to go back to the nuresing home / rehab center.

Haven't been able to do much on the truck or anything else for that matter.. But I did get started stripping the interior so I can put the cage in and I made some cheapo door panels... I wanted something waterproof and would be easy to clean..

I think it came out good and reduces road noise.....

I also started getting ready to put the cage in..
Took me about 3 hours to get the interior stripped and the factory sound stuff off.

There are a few little spots that need some attention, but not bad for a 30 year old truck.

I have a few days off, so I am going to get the floors cleaned up and start on the cage..

This......I used an old wood chisel. I found that if you hit at a downward angle towards the remaining sound goo, it seems to come up easier..

Yea a wood chisel is pretty good for that for removing that stuff. I really like the door panels, they look good.

In spite of all the poo that has been going on in life, I actually got to start on my cage...

I just have it tacked in now, hopefully I can get it nailed in by the weekend.

That looks like a good mix between comfort and support, I like it.
