That will be easy to do on my old bed! Gotta love smart folks on here. Hard part will be removing the panels on the new bed.

Oh btw I love the hood scoops you make for these trucks. I'm really want one.

Atta boy! Since you are cooperating now, I'll give you some useful tips that could help you out with those spot welds LOL

I got a short drill bit chuck that I can put in my right angle pneumatic die grinder for tight spots. I also have a few drill bits that I cut short (about 1-1.5") to use in said chuck. Once I get a hole started, I then ream out the hole with a carbide step bit until the spot weld is drilled free. Works pretty well for me when I get in a tight pinch

so on the new bed .. just cut excess rotted pieces off of the skirts , leaving about an inch . then you can cut some more .. eventually leaving just the weld flanges .. you can then even just grind those off , by-passing the spot weld bit ..
and just a reminder to use personal safety equipment .. gloves , safety glasses , hearing protection .. ect ..

That is a really good idea! Same to you Dave. Got a little confidence back now. I definitely have the safety equipment stuff down pat. I work for Trane and my company truck is stocked full of safety gear.

Haven't done any more body work on the truck. Been to busy with kids and gardening. I did put the camper top back on yesterday. Gotta go buy some bolts for it. Also ordered one of the hood adjusters Kawa mentioned he found on eBay or replace my drivers side one.

Well I took the topper off this weekend. Didn't really care for it. I'm gonna be moving soon so before I do I'm gonna try and do the front brakes with the parts I have had for a while. Still need to put my bed flares back on too. I have always had trouble out of my left door speaker. A while back I replaced both door speakers and and the right sounded better but left was still like muffled/low sounding. I assumed my radio had some kinda issue. Well yesterday I opened my door while the radio was on and the speaker got louder. So I jiggled the wire for the speakers that runs between the door and can and the speaker would cut in and out. Found my problem lol

Probably going to put the bull bar piece back on my front bumper too that I had cut off.

Thanks guys and good luck to you 83yotadream

This morning was good! I got a tip about a truck at the scrap yard from a friend:

I had recently ditched my topper because the entire back glass assembly and trim was missing and a side glass was busted out. Side glass was an easy fix for a glass company but I didn't think I would be able to get the rear fixed properly without it looking fugly. My friend asked the junk yard about it and they said it would be between $150 to $200 for it depending on the condition of it. I went up there this morning and asked and they were like $100. I was like sold haha. The is topper is in great shape. The only thing missing on it is some sort of inside light and the shocks for the rear glass but that's easy to fix. This one even has a sliding glass where it meets the cab. My other one didn't.

I also got the valve cover, headlight trims, and the BSVS off the motor on the scrap truck. I had broke my BSVS before doing a desmog, it controls the AAP on the factory carb.

Here is the new topper that needs a serious bath.

I think this will be good for camping/fishing.

Ok I want some opinions. I'm thinking about taking the winch bumper off and doing the stock look. What does everyone say looks the best? There is some pictures on here see rail pages back where I have the bumper off

Hanging out with some friends last night and we got the new topper bolted down and we took the winch bumper off. Personally I like it a lot better with the stock look and it sits a whole inch higher in the front now lol. Gave the truck a much needed bath yesterday as well. Should be ordering a weber very soon, I like the stock carb and all but its being a PITA here lately and I'm tired of messing with it.

I'm torn! I love the stock look without the bumper looks killer but on the other hand the bumper makes a statement as if to say I GOT THIS MAN!!!! LOL I have been trying to find one of the tube front bumpers for mine and was looking at it this weekend and thought DANG! this thing looks good just like it sits SO I guess I will never be decided on this matter..... Good luck! LOL
