I ordered a new BSVS this week and a new jet for the choke breaker from the dealer. The BVSV is the one with the J-K ports only and not the J-K-L ports so I can't hook up the Auxiliary Acceleration Pump (AAP) system but oh well. I got all that hooked up but I think my engine was already to warm for me to test the choke system. But this weekend it is getting pretty cool Friday night so I should be able to test it Saturday morning and see what it does. Hopefully putting my headliner in Saturday as well.

Did you find a headliner or are you making one?

Got it from here:

http://www.stockinteriors.com/

I have the head liner laid out right now. It was folded up so I'm trying to let the creases work out before I put it in. That company is same one I bought my carpet kit from too. Ordered them to match each other.

Well I got a choke problem. The high idle doesn't appear to be engaging. I tried to set it manually like the FSM states but that didn't work either. Right now when I start the engine I have to stay on the gas till it warms up a little than I can let off it and it will idle a little ruff till it fully warms up then the idle is fine. I have a feeling that it hasn't worked since I rebuilt the carb but I honestly never paid much attention to it then because it was so hot outside.

I know there is a high idle speed set screw and I wonder if its turned in or out to far if it keeps the high idle from engaging. Also what should the flaps on the top of the carb be doing when the engine is cold and after it is turned on?

I just looked through the FSM and found some good pages (3-30 thru 3-33) on the fast idle cam linkage. I will probably pull my carb off tomorrow and try see what is going on.

I think I figured out my choke problem. In the pic below I have a screw driver pointing to the horizontal arm for the choke opener. Right above it there is another arm linkage piece that is resting on top of it.

The image in the FSM shows that arm linkage is supposed to actually be under it. That was a PITA to get underneath it and hooked back on. Finally got it put together right.

Definitely did this putting the carb back together after rebuilding it. But now it seems to be working when I tested it off the truck. I was now able to open the throttle a little and set the choke plate all the down and it stay down. Once set I applied vacuum to the choke opener and heard 3 clicks as it released the choke back down to normal. This make senses with what the FSM says. It said the was 4 steps of the choke system. I assume the first step is the high idle engaged and every click down was the next step down.

Once the engine cools down some I will test it on the truck and hopefully it will work. Not gonna lie I'm pretty proud of myself haha.

The choke on the carb is still not working. Oh well for right now. Nothing I want to try and fix at the moment.

I did install my headliner today. Came out pretty good for being my first one. Messed up in a couple spots but its not that bad.

Before the headliner was in:

All trimmed and put in with the console put back in:

Saw this on Facebook earlier. Did you just tuck the edges back into the window and door gaskets like the factory liner was? I find it crappy that Toyota did it that way so I've been trying to find a new innovative way to re-do mine.

I finally installed this under the hood gravity light I got at the junkyard a while back for like $2. I LOVE it! Can get one off late 90's Chevy trucks and SUVs.

I tapped 12V from a wire powered by the ignition only so the light can't come on if I'm on a very steep hill and the truck is off.

Took my truck on a little road trip yesterday. Ended up driving about 240 miles total. Drove up to an antique tractor show and then went to this massive antique mall. I picked up a military ammo box for $6. It's the same width and length as my center console so I'm going to make it my new console so I have more storage. Also picked up this brown glass gallon jug that Clorox made for $5. Kinda cool for cheap decoration somewhere.

I also tried to calculate my gas mileage and I came up with 19 mpg. So if that's true I'm very impressed. I gave tuning the carb and timing another shot thursday before the trip so I was anxious to see if it did any good. I actually did it how the FSM said to do it. I also accounted for bigger tires when I did the math. From one mile marker on the interstate to the next my odometer only went 0.8 miles so I factored that in.

Also last night I found out there is an amber bulb that fits in the side running lights (ones that butt up the headlight), not the marker lights on the fenders. When I got the truck it had small clear bulbs in it and I couldn't find that bulb in amber. So I looked on the AutoZone app and it showed a different bulb than what I had. I was at a friends house last night when I discovered this and he actually had a pair of the amber bulbs and we put them in and I love them! I hated having clear lights. I think the truck looks a lot better at night now.

It supposedly will fit my truck but it doesn't have the hoop on one end so we will see what hardware it comes with. If not oh well, I think its cool looking and it was made in a plant two hours from my house. Should make a cool collectible if it doesn't fit.

I researched it before I bought it and everyone said this was a really good product back in the day. I'm hoping some of the elder people in this community could give me some insight on it.

Put on the new/old Big Yellow steering stabalizer this morning. Its pretty big, about 3" in diameter. Its gets really close to rubbing on full left turn.

Well I finally discovered what the cut-out in the front valance is for. I was looking at trucks online and noticed some had a tow hook. Well I bought one and stuck it on with the front bolt only.

Well I'm probably about done working on the truck for a while. Did an oil change this past weekend and put a little paint down on top side of my floor pans. Moisture was building up on it and starting to rust them! And I think I'm going to end up keeping the 2WD bed I have and swapping it over sometime in the spring. The bed I have now is such a huge eyesore.

My wife is almost due with our twins so I don't want to start the project with babies almost here. I guess I will scrap my old bed, its not worth keeping. I'm gonna hang the tail gate up in the garage and make me a wood one for it probably, its worse off then the bed is.
