Center cap removal

I'm rotating my tires and I can't figure out how to get these covers that go around my hubs in the center of the wheel. It has a series of clips around the back and it's a bitch to get off. Anybody have any suggestions for getting these off?

They'll only slide in from the back or front. Kinda looks like it would slide out the back, but I have center caps on mine that are shorter but have the same retaining clips, and they just pop in and out from the front...

They pull out from the front. You just need to use a small flat pry bar.

Hey guys, since there's a forum on the topic I didn't want to start a new one to ask; But on my 1991 4Runner I was wanting to know if it's safe to go without the center caps? The guy I bought this from, put these gawdy, awful AR caps on it; that make removing the lugs next to impossible.
Thoughts?

It's perfectly safe to go without them but they will help you out a little bit as far as anti-theft. Maybe not the rear caps but I know my front caps cover up the bolts to remove my Aisin hubs and you'd be surprised how far some people would go to get their hands on a set of those. Plus I think it makes them look a little cleaner and more complete but if money is tight just forget about it.

You should be fine. When I bought my rims used, the guy only had two closed center caps. I ran without center caps in the front for almost a year with the drive flange exposed before I put on my manual locking hubs.

I would be surprised, super limited knowledge over here. When I joined the forum last year I had just bought my 4runner and I'm finally getting the free time to work on it. That being said I will openly admit I'm not familiar with the Aisin hubs. I've been told I don't have locking hubs but I don't know the difference.

Anywho, I think the capless rims look much better; until I can find some that look good.

So I'm servicing my Aisin hubs. I'm having a hell of a time removing the center cap after its seized to the wheel face? Suggestions? So far I've used my torch, a little heat might help. No luck. I'm considering cutting and tearing the chrome piece off!? HELP!
