36 Iroks Radial vs Bias

I'm looking at a used set of 36 Irok radials locally, does anyone have any first hand (or second) experience with these vs the same tire in the bias ply flavor? I know bias is better offroad and more of a pain on road, does the radial help out any on road? Am I wasting my time trying to run an Interco radial off road?

My truck only sees about 2000 highway miles a year so my main concern is a major loss of off road performance resulting from the radial versus bias.

Thanks guys!

i aslo just got some tires from treadwright.com and they are smooth as glass even at 85, they are dot aproved and half the price and expect to ruin them for 50,000 if you rotate, they have 37's too for like 140

It even says that you can get them with glass in the tire.

I don't think that you will see a "major loss" of off road performance, I think it would actually be a pretty minor difference, I know that the pro's use bias ply tires but there is still a lot of sick trucks that use radial tires. In the end it is all up to what you want to spend your cash on, I have never used bias ply off road, but I had them on an old Nova and those things sucked and wore out real quick.

Well like I said, this thing only sees 2000 or so miles a year on road. My concern is that the Irok is such an aggressive tire that even if I get the radial flavor, it won't improve road manners very much. But if the radial, aired down, has SIMILAR (I know it wont be the same) off road performance to the bias, then I'm going to pull the trigger.

And actually, most 'pros' are using BFG radials, either Krawlers or Bajas.

My bad, for some reason I got BFG Krawlers mixed up with Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, which are bias ply tires.

36 iroks in The bias version are almost 1" taller than the radials. Something about the tread was different to I think. Either way there an awesome tire. I have the 36's in bias and I love them.

There's a non-directional option for radials, but there's also radials that are exactly the same as bias tread. I had not heard that about the true height though.......

Have you any experience or know anyone using the radials?

Also, the tires I'm looking at buying are for 16" wheels.

Yes, my brother owned a set of the radials. They worked good off-road , and had a lil better road manners than the bias. I wheel a lot so I prefer bias.

I have never had any experience with the bias ply tires, but I am running 36x13.50r16LT radial IROKs on my truck now, they are excellent on and off road in my opinion. They have very good road manners for their type of tire, except that they are VERY noisy, which does not bother me. Offroad, they are the best tire I have ever used, which I came from BFG All-terrains, KM, and KM2, and Goodyear MT/R's. They do wear pretty quick, but I bought mine used, so I cant judge a brand new set. Either way, I definitely recommend IROK radials.

Here is pic of them on the truck. As you can see, they are getting a bit low on tread.

Thanks man. I ended up finding a good deal on some 35 mtr's though. I thought it would be better to stick with something non interco since my truck still does 100+ mile trips on occasion.
