20r with L43 as daily driver?
hi, first post.
I'm shopping around for a pre 84 4x4 Toyota truck to use as my daily driver in the winter. i commute 30 miles to work on backroads where it's 50 mph is about as fast as you can safely drive in a modern car. in the winter the shortest route to work is not plowed uso i'd like to get a 4x4. 1-2' of snow on that road is not uncommon. in the summer I generally ride my motorcycle.
I have found a few trucks on craigslist that have the L43 4sp and a couple trucks that have a 20r motor. I have never driven a vehicle with either of these.
I'd like to hear some opinions on how suitable a 20r L43 or a 22r L43 combo would be as a daily driver in my situation. it looks like in California there is only about a 5 hp difference between the two motors.
thanks in advance for your help. I've been lurking for a few weeks and there is all kinds of good info here.
