How does your truck do on the highway? I am running 31's currently and 65 is about it. I really don't think something is right.

You are more than welcome to take a look any time. I think it would be really cool to have a gtg of all the Missouri Yota's on here.

Mine is about the same. The gearing calcs say I should be around 3000 rpms doing 60, but it sounds like I'm spinning the engine a lot higher than that. Might help if I had a real tach to go off of, but I am done with the diesel. Going 1uz to a taco 5spd, maybe even 1uz-tt if my cousin has his way.

I have another 4runner with worn out 37" mtr's and 5.29's. I should look at what my rpms are on that thing since it's pretty damn close to my 35's and 5.38's.

edit: I just measured the diameter of the mtr's, they are the same as my bfg's on my diesel. So that should tell me how fast the engine is spinning. With the 31's, the RPM's were 34xx at 60 on the calc.

Sounds good to me! When you get her ready give me a holler.

Just a little update on the truck- I have put around 600 miles on it so far. its still way down on power, and I am suspecting my IP is bad. I am going to swap it out with my spare and see if it helps. Otherwise, I love it and the mileage is compared to the 3vze. The last tank was all city driving it hard and It got mid 20's.

I was pretty impressed my self about the mileage. I have the ip back on but thats as far as I got. I had to work cattle at Dad's this morning and laid hay down here this afternoon. Hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.

Is it only gutless on the highway or is it in the upper rpms everywhere?

Its pretty much totally gutless everywhere. Around town its not as noticeable, but on the highway it just didn't have it. If this new pump doesn't work I'm going to crank up the fuel and boost a bit. If nothing else I will increase the cooling capacity. The only reason I am even messing with it is because it warms up about 210 on the hills and the 300D I have the temp stays right at around 190ish. I am not wanting a ton of power out of it. I'm going to either do a 7mgte or 1uz swap in runner next. That will be the fun toy.

Well the spare pump had a seized port so I just put my old pump back on and cranked a little fuel to it. I should have it back together tomorrow. I'll post results.

Try advancing the ip timing, really improves throttle response and spool up. If you go to far it will just get harder to start, louder and make less power,so no real harm playing with it.

Your high coolant temp and sluggishness make me think the ip timing is retarded. Giving your torque management and tweak along with you crankin up the fuel will make a BIG diff also, just keep an eye on your egts.

Like what was said above, check the timing again. The engine should sound like a cummins with the IP advanced to 26-27º btdc. Also, you should make sure there are no restrictions on the fuel lines and check your boost pressure. These engines need boost and fuel to make them go anywhere.

Sorry guys I had a pretty crazy weekend. I have the pump back in. I am waiting on my drip tube to come back in the mail. I drove it a bit and it seemed much better but the timing must still be retarded as my egts are only like 1000 on the highway and the coolant temp is a little warm. All the fuel filters are new and its making about 10lbs of boost. I intend to crank it up a little later.
