So spring is coming up, and im thinking I would really like to put an exo around the cab and just a light outline along the quarter panels in the rear.
Im in debate with myself if I should do it the way it sits or goahead and replace the quarter panels and fenders with fiberglass from toyotafiberglass.com. The passenger side is pretty beat up along with rust on both sides.
Just hoping to get some opinions thats all, Thanks everyone for input and support on my thread during the build.

I would do it the way it sits. Unless you want to run a baja race, I wouldn't care about fiberglass fenders for the extra weight loss or anything. Especially if you are 4x4ing hard enough to want and exo?

I never asked before- what fuel pump are you using? Walbro 255lph?

The fiberglass quarter panels are mainly to get rid of the rust I painted over a couple years ago. Passenger side is banged up pretty bad and around the gas lid and fender well is just about gone.

My fuel pump is an external Aeromotive. I would half to go to mu summit account for the exact one. I will add in im just now in the process of getting a inline regulator. That pump delivers 60-65psi (I went wayy overkill) The motor from what ive read should be at 30-35.
Aren't the walboro pumps internal?

I just ordered my fiberglass, hopefully they will be here soon.

Fiberglass isn't about weight saving on these trucks, it is about preserving what you have worked so hard on. Rust never sleeps. West Coasters have no idea how quickly a Toyota disapears in the rust belt.

If you exo it make sure you have room to keep repairng the rust.

We could have probably saved some money on fiberglass shipping if I knew you were thinking about ordering quarters and fenders.

They have both in tank and external. I'm not going to run a fuel cell, just want to replace the internal one i've got with a significantly more powerful one. Mine is running a little lean, pretty sure that's why. Finally using mine as a daily driver now, stoked.

Are you running a boost gauge? What kind of PSI are you making?

Lol that's awesome man. Mine will do 80mph and go down the road fine but there's still a few things I wanna do to it before I start driving it to the beach this summer which is like a 2-3 hour drive.
I do have plans to put a boost gauge in but currently I do not. I wanna put it right in place of the stock altitude meter on the dash but it seems hard to find one that small. I think stock boost for my motor is like 8-12psi but I'm really really not sure.

On yours did you replace the stock fuel lines with bigger ones?. I would think that would make a big difference with your 2j.
Only reason I did a fuel cell is cause I absolutely hate how far the stock one hangs below the frame once there lifted.

Haha couldn't have said it better myself. I use to live on the bay and on my previous toyotas once you saw it bubble through the paint another 6months later it would be a small hole. You do make a valid point with having a hard time hiding the rust once I put an exo over it. Within the next two months I'll probly be doing the fiberglass. If you do a thread on yours when it comes time send me a link if you would

Also captainslow, what did you do for exhaust? I did a straight threw "muffler" right after the turbo and straight piped by the leaf spring.

It sounds like something nasty but it's just too loud. It's not bad just cruising but the sec you punch it's just ridiculously loud lol.

Sure will....if i remember.

BTW, I used the east coast distributor this time. He only orders every six months, and Febuary 5th was the last oder. Just letting you know that you should contact him sooner then later so you know what his schedule is.

You should throw a video/sound bite of up your exhaust! I'm curious.
Mine stays up fairly high, makes the turn after the transfer case to the stock muffler location. Its a pretty big magnaflow I got off craigslist for $25 so it's quiet, but then that means you hear the turbos screaming in the cab when you put your foot into it.

Sorry the photos suck, it's dark because I just spent the last daylight hours pulling the gas tank. Walbro 255 goes in tomorrow, hopefully that works out.

How are you checking codes/scanning? I bought a ELM327 tool that is supposed to bluetooth to my phone, but I need to wire the thing in because the JDM motors don't have an OBD2 plug! agh!

I really like your exhaust routing. I am going to try and do something similar with my truck. Ordering my exhaust bends this week.

My ecu is actually wired into the Factory check engine light on the dash. The only 2 codes I get are in reference to it not seeing the automatic transmission.
I took a small video last night behind my house in the woods. Ill have it up this afternoon when I get home.

So I finally got around to getting my Boost gauge put in where I want it. It was pretty nice outside so as soon as I got home from work I went straight for my Runner.
Boost gauge is just a regular Bosch but I did do some looking around cause I wanted to make sure the face would fit in place of the altitude meter. Nothing too in depth pretty cut and dry. Although the stock housing did take some modifying, cutting and measuring to make room and to mount it. Here are the pics.

The cutting and drilling is not pictured. I'll put in the truck later this week. I still half to swap the light socket so I can use the factory green light. Run the hose then drill and tap it.

Here is a link to a small vid behind my house. The vid does not compare to how loud it is in person. Just for comparison that was 2nd gear in low

Yes it is just for a sec before I crest the top. Somewhere around or over 8grand, I only glanced at the tach for a quick sec.

Here is my boost gauge installed in the cluster. Ran the air line through the dash just half to get it through the firewall to the motor.

oh that looks so good! I've thought about doing that with the overhead jdm helix 2nd gen version, but right now by pyrometer and boost gauge replaced the ash tray

I'm curious to see how much boost your making.. where are you going to plumb it off the motor?
