Rust question

I know the history of the motor I'm swapping in but have a question. It spent some time outside under a tarp. Everything looks in great condition with exception of the clutch/flywheel. The flywheel and fingers are visibly rusted as well as I'm sure some of the internal clutch parts... Not bad but a solid surface rust is built up. My options are...
  • Run it...
  • buy new
  • swap 3.0 parts over with new clutch disc

I'm trying to do this on a budget. I'm not sure what it would do to run it? Buying new is going to set me back about $350 it looks like just roughly pricing parts at autozone. Swapping the parts over is good and all and I'd do a new clutch disc for sure but then I'm loosing some performance going to the smaller diameter 3.0 setup.

What's your opinion?

You can kinda see the condition here...

I'd buy new just to save myself the hassle of having to clean it up/resurface anyway and to not have to tear it down again anytime soon.

Id resurface the flywheel and replace the clutch.

How many teeth are on the flywheel by the way?

Wow that is a lot of counting. Good luck keeping track of where you started.

take it apart and inspect! you might have a good clutch and only have to lightly sand the fly wheel?
