I'm running Chevy rears with my SAS. I used 4 leafs and a cut down overload to give a little more height.

Home made 6" shackles. Made my own front spring hanger, bought some rear shackle hangers. Got two sets of springs for $50 a pair. Used some cheap Rancho shocks that were for a 4" Toyota lift. U-Bolt flip kit and shock tabs needed also.

Sky sells a kit to mount them too.

It sits a little lower than the front but the front is not completely settled yet. Rides and flexes great.

$350 is more than I would want to pay for the front axle but, they are getting harder to find. I have seen them go from $150 to $350. Depends on the area you live in and how bad you want it.

yeah I seem to hear more an more that I should piece a kit together rather than buy one straight out im in the military so it's kinda hard to fab my own parts and I live on base so I don't have a garage to work in it every day that's why I was thinkin a kit straight it but if it's better to price together then that's the route I'll take, I'm still lookin for a axle the one I was lookin for got sold and it's southern California so the price on every thing is more than it shouldld be

If your buying a kit, I would buy it now. Trail Gear has there blowout sale going on. I found my kit for $999 shipped. I was going to build my own also, but it really isn't worth it if you don't have any parts laying around.

Ok so I'm having a really hard time getting my hands on a Toyota front axle can I use and kind of axle such as I know you can use a 74 Ford front axle on a Chevy sas but is that the same said for Toyota obviously using a smaller axle such as the ranger or jeep?

I've never heard of anybody using an axle other than a Toyota unless they were swapping in one ton axles. Anything is possible tho. The thing u need to keep in mind is the bolt pattern for ur wheels won't be the same, rangers never had a solid front axle, neither did s10s. U need to make sure the dif is on the same side as the transfer case output. Measure the track width to see if it's similar to ur rear axle. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, this is a Toyota forum, so we may tease u for branching out from the wolfpack.........

You also need to make sure you have the same diff gear ratios if you start going mix-n-match on axles. You actually need to keep that in mind with the SAS too, but it will probably be easier to get matching gears if you stick with Toyota axles.

I know I know I don't wanna branch out but it seems every time I find one somebody buys it out from under me and im active military, naval aviation, so I can't sit on Craig'slist all day to catch one so that's why I was wondering if any one has done it or heard of it done
