3rd Gen Runner SAS question

3rd Gen Runner SAS question
ok, so Im in process of getting stuff to do the SAS on my runner, but my question is, what about the rear?
most kits are set up to just swap out the rear leafs...but what about us coil guys? do we get the same kit, and then fab it up to match the front?
Or am I just seeing things wrong?

I've been thinking the same thing, what to do?
Use 63" chevy leafs, and remove all the 4 link/coil spring set up?
Or, keep and just drop all the brackets [say 4"-5" ballpark] for the 4 link/coil setup to match the lift SAS in the front?
Decisions, decisions...

but how would you mount the Leaf's? same way as up front, and drill mount a shackle up front and weld on a tab in the rear?
and as far as moving the brackets, reloacation of the coil cups would be interesting.
it seems to me the leaf's would be more feasible

run a TG kit with billies. friend of mine just put some on his truck...he's half way there
clicky
edit: if youre gonna run coils out back, might as well either beef up (and lengthen) your links..or just rip it all out n redo a proper 4link. but thats probably alot more bling than its worth. i dunno about dropping brackets..they're pretty low as it is.

Link suspensions are complicated and take some know how to construct.
63" soft Chevy's are not a good fit on a heavy full bodied truck.
The leaves are easy, the links are preferred. A 3.4 with any gearing will eat up leaf springs.

It's the rear axle that has me thinking of what to do. I'll most likely go with leaves, not nesscesarily 63" Chevy's, but something longer than what pre '86 4Runners had.
Rear axle leaf 's are much simpler to install than dropping all the coil spring/4 link parts.

I'm thinkin I'll do leaf's in the rear and cut off all the other 4 link brackets/coils and crap.

Here is what I have going on, might have to reg. to see the pic's

I don't know much about linked suspension but I do know how to fabricate. I've just started so there is not a whole lot of progress as of right now. What I did start with though was cutting all of the old brackets off the yota rear to transfer to my 14 bolt.
The only down side I see to the yota 4 link is the Panhard bar and the links are to short, way to short. By triangulating the upper links more the panhard bar can be eliminated. By adding alot more length to all the lengths I think I can make this work!

These parts should put leaves on the back of your 4Runner... at least they worked on a 2nd Gen. The 3rd Gen's frame height is different though so you'd want to look into that a bit more.

I used 1pr rear shackle hanger, 1pr welded rear spring hanger, 1 pr rear spring perches.
You'll find lot's of other options on that page as well. You'll still need to choose your leaves, shackle length, tabs for shocks, shocks themselves... maybe DS... etc...
Might check with Steve @ Sonoran Steel. He is really familiar with the 3rd Gen SAS as well as rear suspension options.
