It will be a great trip. I love the Valley - This will be my 5th time down there.

For info about the downed Albatross, click here. We'll be hiking to it if 1) we can see it, 2) weather looks friendly, and 3) we all agree that the terrain looks do-able.

I think there is one change to the itenerary already.

Friday night - Camp in Bridgeport
Saturday - Camp at Saline Valley Hot Springs
Sunday - Camp at Lippencott Mine, visit racetrack.
Monday - Gas in Panamint Spring, Albatross, Goler. Camp at Geologist cabin.
Tuesday - Head out south end of valley to follow railroad back toward Bakersfield. Backcountry Camp near tracks.
Wednesday - Heading home.

As of right now, we'll be taking Chris's truck and my buddy Ryan's '02 Taco. He's fully stock... including the ~31" Michelin's... so don't be worried about capability on this trip.

Let us know if you want to go!

Awesome idea. Goler wash is a good route to get to the Geologist's cabin (stock friendly) and you can detour and check out the Manson house

Ok, Chris and I just talked and we'll be meeting to caravan at Sunrise Blvd and Highway 50 at 3:30pm on friday.

Anybody wanna go? Anybody have easter weekend free? We've got 3 guys and 2 rigs. Let's increase those numbers people!

Ryan just got some M/T's for his taco so we'll be rolling with traction (finally... stupid stock michellin's.)

Ok, so we'll still be winging some parts of the trip, but ryan and I decided that spending the entire day going from the springs to the racetrack was a bit much... so we rearranged things.

Fri
-Meet up with Chris in Sac at 3:30pm
-Camp at Bridgeport "Buckeye" Spring

Sat
-Visit Bodie
-Gas in Big Pine
-Enter DV from death valley rd in the north, go over steele/deckader pass to saline valley springs
-Camp at springs

Sun
-Explore some mines out saline valley rd toward 190
-Visit Darwin
-Gas at Panamint Springs
-Camp at a mine, maybe Big Four or Minietta

Mon
-Hike to CIA's Lost Albatross
-Visit Skidoo
-Visit Harrisburg
-Find Manson Cabin
-Camp at Geologist Cabin or nearby if occupied

Tues
-Head out of the valley through the south-east corner
-Gas up in Baker
-Follow Zzyzx Rd to rail lines
-Check out Afton Canyon
-Go through Dagget
-Camp near Bagdad

Wed
-Follow rails to Barstow, ca
-Follow rails to Mojave, ca
-Follow rails to Tehechapi Loop
-Follow rails to Caliente, ca
-Hit bakersfield and head home!

My brain is tarded at times... it comes from living in a house with the un-cleanly.... the dirt collects in my mind... and even though I try to wash it out... it sometimes makes mud and yeah.... ok.... done now.

The MTs are sweet... however, they are skinny.... But I will live

The roads to Bodie may be closed. I'd call and verify ahead of time. I know that 120 is closed about 6 miles off of the 395 but you can still reach Mono Lake, and there are some cool-looking trails that head up into the hills right there, too.

i made it back safe and sound. it was a fun trip to say the least. from running a trail that hasnt seen traffic in at least 50+ years to almost rolling down a hill, to going through 2 spare tires. if i didnt have a 5 page paper to write tonight i would give a more detailed trip report. steve is still wandering out there, i had to come home early due to classes. i'll get pics up asap.
