Death Valley - April 2006
Write Up with Pictures
3 Guys, 2 Rigs, 6 Days. Lots of desert.
No mechanical problems. Chris got 2 flats, but was carrying 2 spares so it all worked out.

And to be consistent with my other write-ups...
What I learned and what I would do differently:
-Buy/Bring more camera batteries
-Buy a lens hood to decrease sun spots
-Buy another 2GB card for my camera... 700+ pictures sounded like enough before the trip..... now it doesn't.
-Carry a can of fix a flat! (Which I do, but we didn't have my rig on the trip.)
-Couple spare tires can come in handy
-Again, please don't ever travel alone in Death Valley without the proper provisions.... we had to push a 2wd volvo stationwagon that dug itself some holes in the sand.
-Carry lots of water
-Always, and I mean always, wheel with a first aid kit. We had mine out at least once every day.

My buddy Ryan setting up his telescope while my camera takes a 30 second exposure.
The Manson place was cool. Kinda scary just thinking of the crazies that once called it home, but whatever. It was interesting. The thing that kinda creeped me out was the locked "M" gate where the spring looks to be. I'd like to assume it turned in to a ranger's place or something, hopefully the Manson's aren't still out there.... lol.

Last summer I was paying 1.38/L or 4.37/US gallon :pat:
Although when i was paying 1.38/L thats when I took a vacation LOL, luckly I took my civic, I'm sure happy though that I was able to find a 4cyl 4runner, I'm in University and dont have too much to spare most of the time.
So Remember, No matter what your paying in the US, Canadians or even more so people in Nova Scotia are paying much more. LOL Not that I want this to be a rant though, because really I'll keep driving and off-roading and ummm... eating less?

When I went to buy the white gas for the fire... the guy at REI asked "What are you going to blow up?" Furthermore, when I went to buy the 5 gallon gas cans we took... the chick at walmart asked if I was an arson and if I could do a job for her..... Do I just have that sort of a trouble-maker aura?

And thanks everyone, it was an awesome trip. I had a lot of fun documenting it this trip (mainly cause I wasn't driving and could keep my eyes off the road.)

Thanks. I shot with my Nikon D50. And the shots with the "sun" and stars is actually a full moon and stars. Almost a full spectrum of light is given off by a full moon, makes for awesome night shots.

I didn't even think to look for it. Bummer. We signed the log books in the ones we visited.
