Cow is pretty mild IMO, it's the first place I took my truck when I bought it and it was completely stock. Just lots of red dirt and don't be afraid to ruin your paint on pokey bushes, I'm still rocking scratches from that day lol.

Wheeling 15th,16th, or 17th?
I'm off Feb 15th,16th, and 17th. I'm in the bay area, anyone doing any wheeling that weekend? I saw you guys are looking at going to Hollister but didn't see a date, did you guys set a date yet?

I'm the one planning it. We're going tomorrow at noon, you're welcome to join. If you can't make it this trip maybe we can plan for that weekend too. Just day trips pm me and we'll plan some adventures lol

Cool thanks for the invite, I cant make it this weekend but I'll for sure be wheeling the weekend of the 16th just not sure where yet, depends on the weather. Hollister is alot of fun if it's not too sloppy. If it snows up north I might head up for some snow wheelin. I'll post up when it gets closer.

I'm in Livermore, I don't know of anywhere close. When I say up north I'm looking at Mormon Emigrant Trail, Signal Peak, or Nevada City Area. To the south is Chews Ridge but it's small and not that much closer, I haven't lived here that long.

I've never been to Cow Mountain but I've been up the M1 toward Mendocino Nat'l Forest, which is maybe 30 miles away, and it snows there, so I'd bet it snows on Cow.. and El Dorado Nat'l Park isn't very much further east compared to the drive up to Ukiah

Looks like the wheeling trip for the weekend of the 16th will be a camping trip as well. We are thinking maybe Chappie-Shasta OHV, Moon Rocks, and/or Black Rock Desert. The last 2 are in Nevada so I doubt you guys will want to come but any Toyota 4x4 is welcome. We are still tossing around ideas so let me know. Here is the planning thread for that run Click Here.
On another note I have this Sunday off. Anyone feel like wheeling Feb 10th? I have some other stuff I should probably do but I'd be down for Hollister or something if there is any interest here. I'm like 20 min from Carnegie as well if anyone ever wants to go there hit me up. It's a pretty small 4x4 play area but it's so close to me I'm always down to go.

What's up Norcal. This is my first post on the forum, but wanted to introduce myself and have subb'd to this thread to see if anyone is planning a norcal wheelin trip.
I usually end up in the Bowman Lakes or Downieville Area in the summer time for camping/wheeling/biking, etc. I can confirm there's definitely snow wheeling in the Mendocino Nat forest by Lake Pilsbury (was there in January). Although I think this last rain event was pretty warm so you'll need to head up in elevation.
I'm down for some trips this summer, so keep the plans rolling!
One I've wanted to do for a while is from Downieville to Feather Falls/Feather River via Poker Flat area - all off road. I've been to Poker Flat; it's real steep going down the canyon and I know there is a difficult section heading out, but haven't been past.
I think this would be a two day trip with an overnight in La Porte (gas/food/lodging) or could camp at Little Grass Valley Res. After that I'm looking at the areas near Hartmann Bar Ridge. I've read about a few short but difficult roads off of this trail here. This part of the trip needs to be developed further.
I'd eventually like to end up at Milsap Bar on the middle fork of the Feather River.
Still in the planning phase, with no set date (roughly begining of August).
Any input would be appreciated.

I've wheeled from La Porte to Cal Ida a few times, fun route. Also out of La Porte you should go down to American House, a trail down to Slate Creek. Its an out and back with a remote CG at the river, quiet & beautiful down there. Might be snow on that trail due to shaded areas and the creek can get high due to run off.
Keep em coming!
