Just testing the waters here, but when the time comes to replace the motor in my rig, I might try stabbing it in at home instead of paying a shop to do it.
If I pick a date and offer a cooler full of beer and smoker full of brisket, any locals in Sonoma or Napa County interested in lending a hand?
This is still a ways away, I just want to survey the landscape and see if this might fly.

I live in San Rafael CA. Not sure if that counts as NorCal hahaha. I guess its kind of MidCal.
Anyways I have a 1986 Toyota SR5 truck which is mostly stock besides some decent off road tires, and the GF just bought a '95 SR5 4Runner which is completely stock. Both are 5 speeds.
Can anyone recommend some one or two day trips for some one very new to off road driving? Something with in reasonable driving distance to the North Bay. Im a good driver but all my experience is in track driving and autocross, but I understand how and why cars handle.
Id like to turn my truck into an expedition rig and do some overland adventures. Dreaming of driving through Canada and Alaska.
