Chris, lets change the situation of you never having shots of your rig. I'll ride with you up Slickrock and Helipad, spotting or rock stacking where needed, and I'll get more pictures than you'll ever want, I just got a new memory card for my camera, I should be able to hold about 800 pics. at one time. Unless you will already have a ride along?

I would love to have someone ride with me. You're more than welcome to join me, and I think Brett wanted to meet us at the top and walk down and take pics too, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'll be able to leave my office no later than 1:00pm, so I could meet up with you in Maryville, no problem. I'll no more closer to it, though.
I doubt that I'll get the locker in by Tellico - still not here and I have a list of other things to accomplish first - I'm goingt o try like hell though !
Dude, I'll help ya with the locker, because you'll love having it out on the trail, don't you think? What else are you planning to do besides the sliders that you're going to weld on?

Well, I finally got to tow the new camper with the 4Runner today and all is well. Here is a more detailed description of that:

The brake controller is installed, the Trailcarnage rear bumper works great and I'm no longer concerned about it's towing capabilities. I also installed some super soft rear bumpstops from Sonoran Steel-thanks Steve. So, dangit I'm ready! Is it May yet?!

That's awesome Brett! I sure wish Fleetwood made a smaller version of the Scorpian, because I love that thing.

Yeah, I'm with you there, that Scorpion is awesome. The basic camper part of it is very close to what I have, but all that extra space outside would be cool. It would be like having a camper, atv trailer, barbecue area, and portable deck all in one. As long as you have a fullsize truck to pull it.

Yep, I could get by with about 5-6 feet less, move the wheels forward a tad, and the tongue weight and trailer weight would be perfect for towing behind our vehicles.

I went to Uwharrie for the weekend to test my rig and to shoot some rounds from a vintage war rifle. Matt got some bald 38x15.50 TSLs for his 94 4Runner
It was fun and my pan hard drop worked good, kinda dark but check out that rear axle...

Unfortunently I trashed my truck and dented most things that hung below the frame rails inculding both my crossmembers and my gas tank. Oh yea I shattered a CV It took 30 seconds to pull the CV shaft from both bearing cups and I drove a couple more trails in 2wd low locked.

I reinstalled the skidplates today-I should have started a swear jar for that. One hand on the prybar, shoulder pushing up on the plates, and the other hand trying to thread in the bolts without cross threading. Man, bent up plates are a pain in the ass. Also, got new boots on the spare cv's, I'm ready, let's go!

Brett, are you talking about the TC plates being bent and hard to install?

Chris

P.S. Hyperlite, how'd you bust your CV?

the busted cv was from the wheels turned all the way, smokin the tires and rockin...... its a sequence to the break.... it was loud, if the taco we were with could have made it up Dutch John it would have happened on Daniels Mtn or not

Yeah, not bent that bad, mostly that the holes aren't slotted enough-it's an extremely tight fit. Remember I have the test version, all others should be fine. The next time my plates come off, the holes will be slotted more.

I gave my CV hell all day. The combination of my lead foot and the angle of the tires on the rock seem to be the weakness of IFS. Oh well I guess it is a warrenty issue...

Just talked to a buddy with a XJ and a group went to Tellico last weekend and took them ALL DAY to get their group of 6 up SlickRock with all the others there

IMO, we should hit this trail like early and like Friday? When the weekend hits, it will be bumper to bumper.

What kind of trouble did they run into? I'm game to hit it bright and early on Friday, which will leave us, based on our results on Slickrock, whichever trail we want to run next.

Lack of traction and only 2 winches seemed to be the culprit. No one broke (Amazing for jeeps ) and the number of people waiting to go up. Others broke in front of them and slowed things down.

I'm with ya' Chris. Early, Early. That could leave like Heli Pad and Guardrail for Saturday. Seems all the grossly over built rigs were on lower 2 and from what was described to me was Ugly. I dunno about lower 2

I do feel we will be in luck with the weather. Just have a feeling we are in for a dry Spring and Summer this year.

I think if we head out at daylight or even earlier we'll be in for a great day.

Like I said before, Lower 2 is totally out of my league. In fact, Slickrock, Heli pad, and Guardrail may still be out of my league. We'll just have to find out, won't we!

I think you might be right! It's been pretty dry up here so far. I've been on two runs the last two weekends, and this last weekend was even more dry than the week before. If the rain can hold out, I might have good luck up there.
