In mine it comes into the light from the driver side, l would think it goes to the B pillar on that side.

On my '85, it comes up the a-pillar on the driver's side, as I recall. Pop out the dome light and see where it heads of towards.

What do you need to locate it for? You can use the door trigger on the fusebox to turn it on if that's what you need. What's the model and year?

sorry it is an 89 pickup, and i wanted to splice in led's or some other low power bulb and mount them in the step wells so when the door is opened i get a little better lighting because the dome light is not cutting it anymore...let me know what you guys think. maybe the location of it by the step wells if it runs by there.

at least your dome still works......I have no idea what to do about mine. I know the bulb isn't blown but that is about it. I like the idea of putting lights down there, but I'd be afraid they'd get broken........or wet.

Toyotas are all ground switched, so you could wire a lamp to come on when the door is opened by running +12V fused to the lamp, then get your ground from the black/white or black wire in the 2-pin connector atop the fusebox in the driver's kickpanel. When you open the door, those wires are grounded, completing your circuit and lighting the lamp.

I've no idea if this'll light those lamps if you turn on the domelight at the switch, but that doesn't seem like that's what you want to do..

Anyways, that should work!

The switch on my domelight is going bad and sometimes it won't work. Shouldn't be too much to take it apart and clean it out with some electrical contact cleaner. Have you tried that?
