anything better then Silverstars?

My passenger side headlight burned out. should i stick with the sliverstars or is there something else better out there? so far i've loved having the Silverstars in there, but there are always brighter and better things.

I have GE nighthawks and like them. IF you are not about bling and more into function, get them . Tehy are cheap.

my mom had silverstars in her suburban for 2 yrs before she sold it. it had drl's also. they were the old style non blue tinted glass ones.

Osram Silverstars are better than the sylvania ones, they are the non tinted version. the light is white not blue. there really isnt much you can do to improve halogen performance, light output is 90% relative to the optics of the housing. and higher wattage bulbs just produce more heat. wattage = heat after all, although luminens do increase with wattage, its not a good tradeoff imo...

My Silverstars have over 2 years on 'em and when they go I'll probably give the Ultras a try or go with the cheaper Nighthawks.

One cause of shortened lifetime in a halogen bulb is low operating voltage (also causes low light output). Halogen bulbs need to run hot in order for the tungsten redeposition cycle to work (this is what makes them last longer) and if the voltage is not high enough, the bulb will burn out faster than normal. Check your headlight voltage (under load) to make sure that is not causing the bulb failure:

If you are not seeing the voltage at the lamps within 0.5 volts of the battery, then that might be the cause of the problem.

you can just get HID conversions for about 200 bucks and have lights that put all halogens to shame and they only take 35w each

and they shine light EVERYWHERE. I pass a small civic (thats redundent, lol) on my way to evening classes. Has the obvious "purple" HID kit and shines everywhere, totally blinding.

I had an upgraded headlight harness from 4crawler on my 4runner and ran 80/100 watt bulbs (plus my 2 hella 500's with 100 watt bulbs) Together they really lit up the road well.

unconditional 1 year warranty i ordered the whites and they made the silverstars look yellow. they are the only bulbs that i have seen that have a white light. i have bought a couple of pairs for my vehicles.

the reason that other cars headlights blind others is that they are out of alignment not due to the bulbs or the hid kits
