i just made something out of necessity for cargo containment. its definitely not a unique idea, but you could do it for absolutely dirt cheap. total cost: a decent length of decent rope. it just allowed me to quickly rope down and move 6 bedfulls of someone elses crap in record time. ill try to remember to take some pictures. it would probably work well in a 1st gen 4runner too. ill try it out on mine this weekend perhaps.

Found a top in the scrap yard for $10..Brought it home and cut the sides off. Did a lil work on it and undercoated it. Did a write up on it not to long ago. Some of you may have already seen it...

here is a cop light mod I did. I yanked this light off of one of our farm trucks. I used a reverse electrolysis method to remove the chrome. I tore it apart and rebuilt it new screws wiring ect. I then had it powder coated. I drilled the pilot hole and this is how it sits. Works killer!!

Not my Idea (seen it on here somewhere) but i am planning on doing it

I am going to get a rear defrost switch out of a 4 runner and wire it into the fuel pump power as a on off switch acting as a anti theft device, this will look stock so a would be thief wont get far with out hitting the switch. (any idea how i could do this?)

Also planning to put 3 Hella 500 on the front of a light bar i went to a truck parts store and got a floor step switch that they use in big rigs.

BTW i used green garden hose for my front diff breather lol ( all i had around)

Also what is the gray wire mod ?

Jon

locate the power wire to your fuel pump, and just add your own relay.

sr5 gauge cluster

self adhesive LED tap light for cargo area

double tow hook

Also i like going to the junkyards and pulling various pieces off of older pickups...for ex. the backing for the heater controls is different in the older models, oil cap, shifter knobs, etc... its been awhile; can't remember what else but you get the idea!

in-bed two bike carrier:
two sections of 3/4" ID pipe and a piece of 3/4" threaded rod, two nuts, two lock washers, four hose clamps, two quick release bicycle front hubs = about 10 bucks
hose clamped a hub to each of the pipes, put the threaded rod in between with the nuts and washers, stuck the whole thing between the tie down points in the bed closest to the cab, tightened down. Worked great but now I have a cap so i cant fit bikes upright any more.

I also have about 6 milk crates secured with ratchet straps to the same tie downs i used for the bike carrier that are home to many of my tools, fluids, rattlecans, spare parts, etc.
