sweet, a rolling fridge, how handy.... now I don't have to drink warm beer on my way to work!

backup lights I put in today work good, didn't go driving yet but tried them out in my yard; they definitely help but are not overwhelming.... If they had full current they would probably be twice as bright. Want to get some LED replacement bulbs for the orginal lights; it is nice to see what's behind you in the dark!

i ran a pos and neg 10 gauge (fused) from the battery, put a relay in, and used my "fog" lights in the rear. it works well, and now i have power for accessories later (maybe for a tbl on the cap i might get this week? )

 

yeah, I will be running probably a 10g or two 12g hot wires to the back of my runner when I do that one; I will be putting 100w lights on it plus I just ordered a bunch of marine grade 12v sockets, some interior overhead lights and switches and a voltmeter to put in the back for camping, that will definitely need some juice.

got to try out the backup lights on my truck the other night, they work great; I can see much better even with the relatively weak LEDs (running on 9.95 volts)

It's a mesh bag that runs across the back to hold gear. I can make more if anyone wants to buy something similar, I do custom sewing for a reasonable price; it's pretty handy, been on my to do list for a while

Put an extra courtesy light in where the rear wiper housing is located. Had to ground the light to the wiper motor since its wire to vehicle ground.
Resualt; open the the doors and two lights illuminate.

Unlock the tailgate, and the dome lights illuminate like the doors do.


Cost: $10 ...wire, 2-pin connector(for cab disconnect), bullet connectors, dome light form pick'n pull.

Tailgate courtesy light trigger 1stGen 4Runner:
Tap the green/red stripe wire on the Door Lock Control switch in the tailgate.
Run the tapped wire to the driver side kick and tap the courtesy light wire(i use bullet connectors for single wires so i can disconnect if needed)

 

So finally did the Mag light and extinguisher mods!

The interior was dusty from the trail...very pleased with the outcome of these mods. Fun, easy, cheap and useful. If your thinking about it DO IT!

Here's a mod I'm about to do, I wanted to throw my wiring diagram out there for you guys to look at before I finished; I completed part of the harness and have all the stuff, wanted input/corrections from some of you electrical geniuses

It's 2 x 12v power outlets in the rear of my runner plus a voltage meter and some interior overhead lights. Also on the harness are hookups for roof rack driving lights, aux backup lights and on board air compressor.

My left rock slider was welded a liiiittle close to the body of the truck and after using it as a lift point a few times, it rattled horribly going down the road. Rattled isn't really even the word for it- it was more like grinding.
So I took some duck tape and folded it up until I had a nice thick cushion, lifted the body away from the slider with a crowbar, and wedged the tape in right under the pinch. Now, there's nothing but sweet, sweet silence.
And the sound of an aerodynamic nightmare careening down the freeway.

 

After a trip through the Rubicon my sliders started touching the pinch weld too. So I slid a screw driver in there and "adjusted" the pinch weld accordingly with a hammer. . . No more contact or noise

 

Although it looks as if you took Taco Clears and painted them. What was your method of getting the stock tails restored? Anybody think sanding and clear coating would restore to a glossy finish?

 

i mounted the rear seat belts,to the ceiling so i can strap my bass and my body board to the roof of the runner for extra space,two seat belts,so they can retract and unplug 0$ inside the runner like to the ceiling ,out of the elements and used the factory bolt holes just kinda flipped um

 

This was my first mod after I purchased the truck. Could not store my spare tire under truck. Bolts right to the roll bar.

Not $100's per side,
At Home-Depot get a roll of garage door 4" weather strip $12.95. A little sheet metal cut into 3/4" strips about 3' long, some self-taping screws and washers I already had and presto!
However with the Texas heat they tend to droop after a couple of summers.

 

That's really cool! I've been looking at a solution for relocating mine, since I have 32" tires and there's a ton of rubbing of the exhaust and my leaf springs. Was looking at swing out carriers but this is pretty neat!

Did you just fab that up yourself???
