I did the hood, front fender, and roof of my truck with Duplicolor flat black paint and primer.
this was before the paint

and after

it came out ok, but it definitely looks like a cheap rattle can job. I'm just glad it looks way better than it originally did. I haven't had it on more than a few months, so I can't really speak on its durability yet.

Here is mine, I tried to match the paint as close to the original as possible but I didn't do a very good job, it ended up being more of an orange. I'm still trying to decide if I want to keep it or not. Only the front fenders and hood are this color (I had to replace the fenders due to rust and the hood had several dents in it). If I decide I like it i'll of course finish the truck with it. Its krylon banner red from wal-mart.

I've painted the hood, valence and wiper tray with acrylic enamel in the factory code.
The roof, and upper areas around the doors/bed/tailgate are still oxidizing and washing away.

same with my 84.. not quite to that extent but same problem as you can see here on the hood, roof, and parts of the quarters i think its the surfaces that recieve direct sunlight constantly

The '86 black paint must be made with some kind of self destruct ingredient. My '86 runner has the same wash-away black paint.

Hey man could do you me a big favor and get me a pic of that skidplate setup on your front end with your 2" body lift on? I believe its DOWNEY right? I was going to get one, and I will be doing a 3" BL soon and wondered how it would look, thanks! Sorry fer jackin' yer thread Alex..

and here its is after the lift

As you can see, the Downey bar looks a bit funky after my 2" body lift. Moving the stock front bumper was a big pain after the body lift, but that was because the previous owner rear ended someone. I don't want to deal with the hassle of messing with the Downey bar, so I'm just going to leave it as is.

If you have a spray gun and a compressor it would be cheaper to go to Tractor Supply and get a gallon of tractor paint. They have alot of colors I did my bug last year . If i new how to post a pic id put it on her for ya.

Not sure if that works....oooh it worked
