Here is the email I sent to Donahoe.

Hello,

I am getting a lot of interest on yotatech's website for a deal on a group order of donahoe shocks. What kind of group rate can I get on a some donahoe coilovers for a toyta tacoma/4runner?

It looks like a lot of interest is being generated.

Thanks for your help, Tony

Just FYI - if you're going to tell them that a lot of interest is being generated AND give them the website name you'll want to be able to back that up.

Are the Donahoe coilovers really that much better than the TRD Tundra/OME setup? I know that they look a lot cooler, but if they aren't any better then why spend the extra money?

One of the benefits of any coilover over an old-fashioned shock/spring set up is that the coilover can be rebuilt at much less cost than replacing new shocks. Another, of course, is adjustable height - nice to give yourself 2" of lift without sag when some front end armor might weigh down the lift.

I understand the whole rebuildable aspect, but what I'm wondering is the ride quality. Are they that much smoother than the Tundra coil setup, or are they stiffer?

Gentlemen -

Just an update. I haven't heard anything from Donahoe yet, but I will persue this a little more after the holidays. No email or phone call received yet. I will keep you guys informed. Keep the interest up so I can get a somewhat accurate count.

Thanks, Tony

I hate to be a naysayer but I think you'll run into a better chance of organizing a group buy through a vendor and not the company itself.
From what I've seen on previous group buys is that only a fraction of those interested (on high $ items) actually go through with purchasing. But for argument's sake let's say 15 people actually commit to buying. The company itself probably won't bother with the sale of 15 sets - it's too small.

Try a vendor that you've had good experiences with. You'll have better luck there.

EDIT:
but hey, you never know. Maybe Donahoe is the type of company to do business with the little guy.

Hate to be a downer but Dr will never go for a group buy. Why? Because they sell out their coil overs every single batch even at full retail. And why should they? Cheap place to get DR CO is wheelers. Shipping is free and there is not tax if you live outside of Oregon.

Unfortuanately Super Duty is right. I had no luck getting a group buy becasue they do sell every set they make. I tried guys, but I didn't have any luck. Best thing to do id try Dr. CO. in Oregon like S. DUty said. Thanks Super Duty.

I have to chime in about the quality and ride of the dr 2.5 coilovers. I had a set on my 99 TRD Taco and they were absolutely awsome. Very pricey but oustanding in every way. I bought SAWs for my runner and am disapointed with the wearing of the materials used in these. The threads are corroding and make it next to impossible to adjust. The DR's never showed any sign of wear in almost 2 years. I got mine through wheeler's off road.

Good luck on the group buy. I don't think it will happen though. Supply and demand are not working in your favor.
