That is why I made sure I had extras before I used this method. Although you would have to not be paying attention to shoot one. YOu could always yank one from your spare as a last resort, but why do that when you can buy extras cheap.

If you are going to be airing down on a regular basis...invest in the right tool.

The primitive method described above works, but it is like needing a hammer for a nail and using a pipe wrench.
Having air in your tires is overrated anyway.

I've also used the "pulling the valve core" method for a couple of years and never lost a single valve core.
