Auto College as installers?

I am trying to figure out a way to install my lift on my 4runner, but I don't have the tools or much knowlege of the process. A local 4x4 shop quoted me almost $1000 just for the install! Then a friend suggested that I try contacting an Auto-Deisel college, since they apparently need projects to train students. He said they wouldn't charge much if anything and that it would be done right. Has anyone done this or have any thoughts? I'm not sure if they would do it or it would even be a good idea. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well if they know what they are doing its a godsend, buddy of mine had a local vocational school install alot of stuff for him and they didnt mess up.

A lift is a bit different though, I would want them to sign a wavier incase the damage or install anything wrong.

My friend goes to ASU and goes to some mechanic classes. When he has a problem with his truck he takes it there to get it done cheap. Just an idea.

If you got a school in mind, take it there. they'll have the right tools and you can probably hang out and help. what kind of lift is it?

It's a 2-parter: 2" OME suspesion lift and a 2" 4crawler body lift (which is the complicated part for me). I might give Nashville Auto-Deisel College a call.
