why does my new clutch chatter at me?

My clutch chatters when idling or in gear.. only time it doesnt chatter is when i depress the clutch. It stops chattering when the clutch is depressed about an inch. The clutch begins engaging at just under half way up. This is a brand new clutch on a 95 4runner with the 3.0 v6. It is a centerforce dual friction clutch. When I run my truck it smells like burning clutch. Ive got about 2500 miles on the new clutch since it was installed.
Thanks in advance, I appriciate it.

yea i had them replace everything new. Im thinkin they put the wrong size throwout bearing in, i called centerforce and he told me thats what it sounds like, apparently the clutch i have takes a smaller version... ultimately i think ill end up having to pull it apart to see what it looks like. should be interesting 8) and will be a first for me. Ill post some pics when i get to it... heres what happened last time i did something for the first time on my new truck...

Disk in backwards or you have hot spots (hardened areas of the flywheel or pressure plate). This can be seen after the clutch is broken down and inspected. I am putting a Centerfource 2 clutch in my jeep as I already have one in my 87 4Runner and I am very happy with it. My jeep is currently torn down in the carport being restored. I am getting ready today to set the engine and transmission in on a powder coated frame and new suspension.

improper installation of pressure plate/clutch disk is my guess. Maybe presure plate wasn't torqued down right.
