crower cam regrinds
doug thorley headers
cold air intake
fuel chiller (cold can)
port/polish heads
nitrous...

the 3.slows are called 3.slows for a reason, my sincere advice is swap in another motor. there is the toyota 3.4, chevy 4.3, lexus 4.0, chevy 5.7... lots of motors fit in a toyota with some modification.

There are those who will tell you that you can't get power out of a 3.0.

You can, but the amount of work and $ involved won't net you much in the way of meaningful gains.

If you can do the work yourself or with help from a friend or two, and if you don't mind tackling some wiring, then the 3.4 swap is a better bet.

tracey, man ive looked all over for a cold air intake for one and i cant find one. i have no idea what fuel chiller is. and ive got a question for ya if i got cam regrinds to 264's or 272's would i have to get new heads or get head work done?

and once again thank yall for all the advice keep it comin

well let me rephrase that, *short ram intake by spectre, or... K&N makes a cold air for 4runners but its expensive. fuel chillers or 'cold cans' are devices where the fuel runs through a cooling element (like a mini freon system) and chills the fuel to drop mixture temps and get you some more power and fuel efficiency, they are hard to find. cams... i have the 264's and they are good but i think i should have gone to 272's. and having the head work done is usually cheaper than new heads. mine were about $400. with new valve shims it came out to $500.

nope, just have the machinist throw them in to check the shim clearances. crower cut my base circles too small so i had to get all new shims from toyota.
