How is cutting tread off good for wheeling?

I've heard of siping a tire but not cutting lugs right off.

Weird.

Where they free? I hope you didn't pay much if not.

A lot of people's cut the super swampers. May be cut for a different design for different terrain or to give more traction or if they're wore down.

Post pics of your tires.

This tire is a bogger i found online that has lugs cut off and some cut in half.

Question: can I put a rear end differential into a front solid axle? 4:10 gears in the rear of the truck that it would be going into so front and rear would match. Both 8"

I am used to people wanting to buy her off me but NEVER have I had someone want just the bumpers. I think they are Smittybilt bumpers, I looked them up and it looks just like mine.

So I am curious about something and it is a simple yes or no question so I did not want to start a new thread, hopefully it is okay here.

I found a Detroit Limited Slip for a V6 8" rear out of a 3rd gen 4runner, will it fit in my V6 8" rear 2nd gen? The reason I ask is because I did some research and the page on Summit Racing does not offer the year "1998." It skips from 95 to 2007 I think, which did not make sense to me. . I searched for Detroit Truetrac and then clicked on 1998 and it does not offer one for the V6 rear? This page also does not show a V6 rear for a 98 4runner, just an 8.4" for Tacoma. http://www.differentials.com/new-pro...-differentials

Can someone clear it up for me? Thanks!

quick question, if I got a 4runner roll bar, would it be easy to mod into one for my pickup? or should I just wait for a pickup bar to show up on craigslist

I have a stock 89 4runner and I'm looking for increased trail capability whilst keeping it my current daily driver. Lockers seem to be mentioned alot but I haven't a clue where to start. I'm planning on driving on (lots of) snow, dry pavement, dirt, mud, anything offload for that matter. Any help to get me pointed in the right direction would be fantastic. I'm also planning on buying new tires. My current 31" mud terrains are bald. Lookin bigger to 33's?? Potential 3" body lift?? I'm pretty new at this but I got a steal of a deal and I know this truck will treat me right. Hah.

-cheers everyone.

Ps: money is a problem (as it is with everyone) however I'm not looking for the cheapest parts on the market.

Another question. I've noticed that rust has eaten through just in front of the rear wheel wells. How hard (if possible) is the removal of the running boards. Reinstalling the running boards after I fix the rust isn't necessary and I personally like the look of the 1st gen 4runners without them.

-comments or messages would be greatly appreciated.
-1989 4runner (bit rusty, but not for long)

I have a nice 86 extra cab pickup. Recently I bought an 85 in rough shape but the frame is cleaner than mine... I plan on putting the 86 body and motor on the 85 frame. But I'm confused on the body lift.. Which do I use?? Are they different? What else could cause problems?
