need some advice on lifting my truck

so i have a 1984 toyota that my dad gave me. we recently put aftermarket smitty built bumpers. now im wanting a good 5 or 6 inch lift with good articulation. ive read on here that guys have done chevy leaf springs for the articulation. but ive noticed it dont really give you a lift. im on a very low budget and want to build the lift. so how could i achieve this? my questions are; how many of you have done this chevy leaf spring swap and actually gotten a lift from it? and how long will i have to lenthen the drive shafts? i was looking at bugz build and he had a square drive shaft is it possilbe to build one of these? any help would be great. i cant quite figure out how to put pictures yet or id post some

Nothing your doing is new. Search around a bit, theres a thread for everything.

Just do RUFs and chevy or ford spring in the rear.

your welcome. it is nice to hear that my thread has helped out people. I also looked and searched and didn't find much. most questions were answered with a search comment. these trucks have quite a few years on them and are still holding up just fine.

a lot of people run toyota rears up front ruf and chevy 2wd or 4wd 63" springs in the rear this is a ok set up although I dont like the 63" springs cause they are super long and hang up on things in the front ford or chevy 56" I think work better not as long any they dont have up on things as much. both the 63" and 56" springs will give you ruffly 3.5" lift after settling some people run blocks under the springs for added lift I wouldn't blocks=axle wrap and thats very bad. another way to lift the front is jeep wagoneer front springs they will give you the same about 3.5" lift after settling and also move your axle forward. the square drive shaft is mainly in the front easiest way to lengthen your front drive shaft after moving your axle forward or installing a dual t-case set up since dual cases move your flange for the front dl (drive line) back 6"s hope this helps pm any more ?s you might have I have been building toyota's and jeeps for over 10 years now and have a 85runner myself
