Clutch problem when starting

When i start my truck the clutch pedal has to be pressed all the way to the floor. I mean all the way. Does anyone know if that is a switch problem or a clutch problem and how I would go about fixing that. Also my clutch cancel switch doesn't work. I just got the truck and I'm not sure if anything was done to it or if it's just broke. Any advice would be appreciated.

I had this problem too. Two things can cause it, floor mat bunched up under the pedal or I had to bend the bracket on the switch a little to get mine to work properly. There's also a possibility of the entire pedal bracket to be cracked causing unnecessary movement, however if your not having other shifting problems, then that particular problem is probably not it.

About the first time any of my Toyota Vehicles gave me a problem that stupid switch gets removed .

The wires get plugged together .

I find it such a pain not to be able to just reach in the door and start the engine.

You talkin about the one on the floor? or the dash? Because I was talkin about the one on the floor, not the clutch cancel switch on the dash. That's the one I use if I want to start the truck by just reaching inside the door.

i mean the one on the clutch pedal bracket only the SR5 package had the clutch cancel switch alot of the ones I have only have the clutch bracket switch.

So You can`t just reach in the window.

Right up there with ABS brakes

I guess when the switch installer went to the potty or called off they didn`t get put in.

Who knows.

In any case it works for me.

Untold amounts of starters and ignition switches replaced due to these switches coming loose and coming out of adjustment.

I'm actually talking about both. My switch on the dash doesn't work and I am having problems with the clutch pedal. I will try and adjust the bracket and see it that helps. Thanks for the ideas
