LINKS BROKE, FRAME TO BAR BRACKET BOLTS SNAPPED, REMOVED THE DARN THING..CAN i DRIVE IT TO WORK?

 

I've been driving my car without one for months.

 

I have been driving without one for 2 years now. You just have to get used to how the handle. (po took it off before I bought it.)

 

Ya its fine I took mine off about a month ago you will just experience a little bit more body roll

 

Mine hasnt had one for over a year

 

My '95 4runner didnt come with either front or rear when I bought it. Its sketchy, but not too bad. You just need to know how to drive.

 

x100. I only care about sway bars on sports cars. No need to hinder our already limited IFS articulation. I always remove the sway bar on my 4Runners.

 

Depends where you live. In washington its illegal to drive without sway bars.

 

i drove without one for a few weeks waiting for time to reinstall my rebuilt transmission I know I could tell a difference .

I do like the tighter feel myself

 

I took both my swaybars off a few years ago , and never looked back

 

At stock height it's no problem, with BJ spacers and an 2-3" lift in back you can notice a pretty big difference. Once I lifted my 91 P/U I had to search around and found a 87 model in a junkyard. They have a different sway bar set up although it looks the same. It is thinner and mounted further back on the frame giving it longer 'ends'. This does two things:
1. makes it a less effective sway bar
2. gives the front end much better articulation, almost as good as taking it off.
I've found this sway bar to be a perfect balance with my lift and driving style. It works well at reducing body roll and still lets the front end move, I can't for the life of me figure out what they were doing with the later version of sway bar. Maybe the guy who usually works on supras was filling in for the day? Anyhow with the older sway bar you can use the 'rear' bolt hole in the frame for the front and you'll have to drill a new rear hole in the frame. I had it a little easier because I have a diff and sway bar drop so I was able to do it without drilling in the frame but it's still a piece of cake for what you get.

 

Hell yeah, I recommend it!

I've been doing it for a long time. 4" lift, big tires, no sway bar. No problem.

I really dont know why people keep these things on there, handling is so much better, and you get to squeeze some more articulation out of the flex demon of IFS

 

just take it easy around corners and youll be good.

I've always wanted to get some sway bar adjusters and just loosen them up for wheeling, and tighten them down once I hit the road...

But lately I've been wanting to fab a bar with manual hubs... Has anybody seen the &eep one that works with locking hubs? Gotta admit... It's pretty cool...

 

ok, so sway bar removed, didnt notice much differance in handling or drivablility...Did notice that the metal metal rattle did NOT disapppear (sounds like if you put two heavy washers loosely together on a bolt and shook it up and down).. so will be beating on EVERYTHING up front today and try and find it....any usual suspects I should know about guys?
It's annoying driving down the road and having this exterior rattle when going over smaller bumps and cracks in the road , maybe I'm just anal but ARRGGHHH
