Advice on simplest way to take off a body lift.....yes, remove it.

Just looking/asking if anyone has any good method to take a body lift off a truck. I had a friend die in a wreck when his truck came off the body when the lift blocks shattered, therefore i refuse to drive one with a body lift, that and i want it back to stock height.

Same way you installed it. Just take out the bolts, jack the body up, remove the spacers, drop the body and bolt back together.

Yep, removal is the reverse process of installation. You'll need to get some stock length body mount hardware at a minimum:

Gary, 96360, Nanaimo resident for 95495 of those years, died Tuesday afternoon when his body lift blocks got shattered by the landing following a record setting yota jump, three hundred feet in the air and four miles in total distance. He was a member of the online community, Yotatech, as well as an excellent father to his 16 year old son with a 3.slo. He made great waffles, too.

That is one of the big problems I see with those extruded fiberglass type lift blocks used in many of the aftermarket body lift kits. They are a hard somewhat brittle plastic and being hollow, that is a possibility. Also, being hard, if the body mount bolts loosen just a little, they can work loose and cause squeaking. They are cheap to mass produce, so that is probably why they are used.

That is why I like a solid UHMW poly lift blocks:

In fact it was replacement of some faulty extruded glass blocks that spurred the first Tacoma body lift kit we made. Owner was tired of the squeaking and rattling and constant bolt tightening he experienced with that sort of block and he commissioned a set of replacement lift blocks in UHMW.

excellent father to his 16 year old son with a 3 slow... hahhahah i get it, dont jump your truck and your blocks wont shatter. i barely offroad but when i do, i drive pretty slow. ive seen the damage that could be done by driving too fast on trails with huge ruts.

like 4crawler said, a nice set of BL blocks that are solid UHMW are pretty much indestructable. Cheap/homemade lifts are the ones that fail a majority of the time. Even driving rough and doing jumps and stuff will start breaking other much more important stuff before it breaks your body mounts.

You break UHMW and you were doing something you shouldn't have been.

i bought a performance accessories kit instead of rogers kit. i just couldnt afford spending more for his lift (remember guys canadian dollar is pretty low). i know his kit is way better but i know i wont drive so rough that the block will shatter or go thru the cab
