90 body on 07 Chassis

Will a 90 runner body work on a 07 FJ chassis? I have found one for cheap as hell, and since im struggling to get a motor just wondering if swapping my body over would work.

Anything is possible with a grinder and a welder. But, man, that would be a lot of work.

If the wheel base is the same or close it will work but a lot of fab work. If you can do the work go for it , but to pay to have it done is costly.

It has 50,000km on it and its 1500 for the chassis and everything else the guy wanted to use the body and now is selling the rest of it. I haven't yet seen it he wont post up pictures so that kind of puts up red flags. But i blew my 3.0 and want to replace it and its about the same cost of a motor.

Nope, body on frame. Only 8 body mounts on the FJ and 4th gen 4Runner, vs. 10 on the earlier 4Runners.

This guy is doing a '90->'97 body swap (for some insight on the magnitude of the project):

I am in the middle of a 4Runner project and I need some help. I originally had a 91 4Runner 4X4 Automatic and I hydrolocked the engine one night while I was out wheeling. Instead of just replacing the 3.0 V6, which was getting less than 145 hp and 14 mpg, I decided I wanted to convert to the 3.4. After searching around I found a 97 4Runner 4X4 Automatic that had been rolled over and the body was all banged up, but everything underneath it was still strait, so I decided to move the body from the 91 onto the 97 frame.

It has been rough so far as they are 2 different generation 4Runners, but after relocating all the body mounts and integrating a sub frame body lift so the body would fit over the bigger engine, we have the body mounted to the frame where we want it. Since the frames were different and we moved the mounts around, its difficult to say exactly how high the lift is, but it seems to be about 2ish inches in the front and 5 1/2 inches in the rear.

If this the case, will a 2nd gen body fit a 1st gen frame?

There are some 1st/2nd gen differences. Body mounts on the 2nd gens are a different style, vs. the 1st gen all the same. Not sure if the body mount bracket widths/locations are identical or not.

From: Nashville TN. I can help you if you're close BUT NOBODY CAN HELP YOU IF YOU DON'T FILL YOUR LOCATION IN!
uhm...

Well... uhm... I'm not too sure how to make it 4WD as the TC drop side changed...

And the front diff is a reverse rotation high pinion...

That and the Torsen Bar 4WD is superior IMO.

Oh, and a FjC is a rebody on a Tacoma frame... Maybe not an exact Tacoma frame as IIRC the FjLosers are made in Japan, but the lifts all interchange and the DT's are the same.
