86 pickup question

i picked up a 86 pickup today, went to pop the hood to get the battery jump started and noticed that the valve cover said 22r-e, but its has a carb. did any of the pickups come that way? could of sworn it was gonna have a 22r since it wasnt fuel injected.

You're right, the 22R is carbed. It could just have a 22RE sticker slapped on or someone could have converted it to carb from fuel injection.

that pretty much sums it up. If it has a carb then it is a 22r, if it has a fuel injected throttle body it's a 22re. Do you know what a carb looks like?

The thing about 84-88 motors is they are all pretty much the same. all the blocks have 22R stamped into the block under the exhaust manifold except the turbo says 22-ret. The heads are slightly different between the 22r and 22re but they can be swapped. and the valve covers are the same too. So It really could be one of several things. but it's no big deal. replacement stickers are like 50 cents. the motor looks good though, how many miles on it?
