Preparing 3rd Member For Installation

Hey folks, just getting ready to swap in my 4.56s with an Aussie locker. The flange one the 3rd is a little rusty so I was going to wire brush it off to smooth the surface out. Unfortunately I'm sure I will get some shavings in or on the diff guts.

I was thinking of taking the diff to a pressure washer and washing it out after doing that and then spraying the inside with a couple cans of brake cleaner. Same thing with the axle housing I was thinking but no pressure washer. Prep the flange/flat part, open the drain plug and spray a bunch of brake cleaner to get any dust and grime out.

Is this a bad idea?

To be honest, I don't think you need to go as far as pressure washing. I'd just do the brake clean and be done with it. That's all we do here at the shop I work at. If you really wanna make sure you get a good portion of the metal out of the 3rd, run a magnet around and get as much as you can. Then spray with brake clean.
