3VZE to 22RE

ok so my 3VZE (3.0 V6) is getting up there in milage and I want to possibly do an engine swap before it goes...I wouldnt mind a 22RE cuz I have had one before and there are many options to get get more power but what are some other easy engines swaps I could do maybe over a weekend other than a 3VZE

and directions/pics would help alot

I have the same problem but my solution is a 98 2RZ-FE, Marlin Crawler 2/3RZ bellhousing, 6 puck race clutch, 87 R151F turbo tranny, and dual 23 spline cases with 4.7 gears in the rear case.

Search out the 3.4 swap (5VZ-FE from '95-'04 Tacos and Runners), You will have fewer things to change or adapt than going to a 22RE. The 3.4 offers better power plus better gas milage - I love mine! Mechanically, the swap is pretty much a bolt up affair, and the electronics are not too bad to deal with, especially if you are comfortable with that kind of thing to start with.

You probably won't, as pretty much every one is going to be different, because of the year to year changes in wiring. For example, my '02 to '90 is not going to be the same a someone else's '99 to '93. You need to get the specific wiring diagrams from both the donor and recipient vehicles, and go through the individual pin-outs to make a harness that will work.

Or, you can pony up some money, give Mike at ORS a call, give him the specifics about both vehicles, and he'll make one that will make the project very close to plug and play.

I agree with everybody else, I think you'll be MUCH happier with a 3.4 than either engine option for your year truck. I, personally have a soft spot for my 3.0, and the only engine swap for my truck would be the 1kz-te, which, if diesel is something your interested in, might be something for you to at least do some research on.
