hay couple questions for you i was wondering if i put a 3in ifs left on my runner will it give me any more flex at all i had some one offer to trade for a 85 pickup but i might just put a sa on my runner have not decided yet

 

found a axel for $200 hub to hub but if i can get some more flex out of the ifs i will stick with that because i do alot of snow wheeling and i love to play in the sand but we also do some trails ware i need just a little more flex just in case i need it let me know thanks

 

simply will i get more flex bye doing this

 

Specs of runner?

How do you plan on doing it? Leaf springs? And you will get more flex, and have the ability to make it stronger to handle bigger tires.

 

Never heard of a 3" IFS lift... Unless, you're talking about a body lift?

And I mean this in the best possible way, as I am anything BUT a spell Nazi... Please review your posts and try some punctuation and spelling...

ok, I'm just gonna spill it...


If it's a drop bracket lift, usually no they do not add any flex. The reason is the bump stops are lowered the same amount, and the manufacturer gets out of any liability that breakage might ensue with the addition of flex.

Think about it, it's much more simple for them to just make spacers...

So that's the drop brackets.

Other lifts associated with IFS are Ball Joint spacers. The most I would feel safe with is the 1.5" Roger Brown (4Crawler) sells. I may be wrong, but I consider him to be the pioneer and will take his word when he says that's the max amount of safe lift.

Think about it. If Roger invented the deals and did all the R&D... That just makes me thing the rest are just out for a profit offering anything over 1.5".

They will add flex, but only in the amount of "lift" spacer you get. And I may be wrong but you'll only get more compression or stuff... B/c the upper control arm will still stop at the same bump stop.


Body lifts... Ehhh.... Nothing spectacular when used by themselves. But, with ppl like Roger and Bud(Built) you can LIFT the drive train by the same body lift amount and have nothing hanging below the frame. You can also split the difference so you have more under hood airflow, and room to get your hands on it to work on it.
