i got an 89 4runner 3VZE, and hears the thing, my 4x4 engages to hi and lo, my front drive shaft turns so do my CV shafts cause my buddy and I checked,, BUT when i go to climb something or mess around or anything my front tires dont spin, WTF?! its been goin on since i got it and i cant figure out what the hell is wrong, i have auto lock hubs so i thought it might be that but yet wouldnt just one tire still spin?? advice help anything please,, thanks.

 

Sounds like ADD isn't kickin in!

 

ADD was used in both trucks (1989-current) and 4Runners (1990-current).

AUTO hubs that some Toyota 4x4s came with between 1984 and 1989

If everything else works then your auto hubs are junk. Auto hubs to manual hubs is a pretty easy upgrade.

 

yea and the thing is i bought it in febuary and the previous owner tried saying they wer like BRAND new,ha b.s. i guess,, this might sound dumb but i really dont know, whats ADD? and how would i check or fix that??
