Wire harness repair parts

I finally tore into my console tonight on my 86 4Runner to troubleshoot my rear window switch problems. I quickly found that two of the wires in the harness had apparently been broken off millimeters from the plugs and the previous owner had unsuccessfully attempted to repair with crimped on speaker cable.

(Also note the dried pepsi on the wiper harness)

I've cut that out and pulled out the female receptacles, but they are too short to solder on new wire. Can someone tell me where I can find new female pins so that I can rewire the harness plug?

I'm in Portland, OR and would prefer to find it locally if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I sent an email to my local parts manager (I'm on an email basis at this point with him). My work schedule doesn't allow me to get to pick n pull easily.

Hopefully the dealer will have them. I scrolled through 25 pages of the Radio Shack website and could not find them.

As far as I have been told Toyota only sells complete harnesses if you can get parts you will be ahead of the game.

I know there are a few suppliers of plastic plugs and pins on line.
You just have to know what style you need.

Good Luck:jessica:

I think I have that harness. I'll look and if it's cut already I'll sell that part, if it's not cut though I would only want to sell the harness complete.

Thanks dragr. My parts guy at the dealer thinks he may have some pins for me. I just need to get there when they're open - the hardest part.

One thing I should have done before I popped the two pins out was to take note of what color wire goes where. I can sort of tell from the pic above, but I'd rather confirm with someone who has one in tact. Anyone that can would be a great help!

Thanks in advance!

So the dealer can get me new pins. They are $5 each (ouch). Good thing I only need two.

Any insight on which wires go to which slot would be greatly appreciated.

Never got an answer on the wire harness question above. Getting ready to put things back together. Anyone have a source for answering this?
