Bombed Rear on my 04

I blew my rear end on a short hill climb at Nightmare Gulch in Red Rock, Ca. The dealer refused to cover under warranty, I went to Corp & they're reviewing the case & I'm awaiting the official reply. I was hoping to get some more info before posting, but it's taking so long, I thought I'd get it out there.
I've wheeled pretty hard trails with no issues before & then blamo on a little hill. OK, it's a little tricky, but certainly not enough to justify a blown rear. I'm using the Taco & FJ probs as my strong point, even though they're different rears, but it's the mods they're trying to use as a scape goat. I'll post as I make progress.

Well the onus is on them to 'prove' that your mods caused the problems. With all the FJ and Taco problems, they sure don't have much of a leg to stand on. Good luck man, keep us updated!

Did you get a chance to contact Northridge Toyota for a second opinion?

Not yet. I was already back at my dealer before I got the Northridge contact & it was already with corp for review. I don't want anyone being questioned, that's trying to help me, if corp wants to try & deny coverage. So I will wait for the response from corp before moving forward. Thanks for the help Lance.

They've had it almost 2 wks, so I should have an answer soon. I'll post with progress. They lost an arbitration recently about the mods, so I'm hoping for the best.

If you hope in one hand & spit in the other, which one fills up quicker?

Toyota Corp has officially denied my claim. After market modifications are their reason. I will persue this in arbitration, since All Pro just won their case & the burden of proof is on Toyota. I'd like to see what they come up with.
In the meantime, I'll have it rebuilt w/ a solid pinion spacer & ad a locker, so I can at least get an upgrade out of it if I loose in arbitration.

Sucks to hear that. Hopefully it all works out in the end, but too bad you have to take this to the next stage.

Even if I loose, I'll still get an upgrade out of it, so I'm OK. But if I win, then it will help everyone down the road.

I was waiting on All Pro to get their front gears in, so I could re-gear & add lockers, but it was taking too long (they still don't have them). I got a used 3rd on line & threw it in. My gears were completely shredded. After the rear went in I was still having issues. I was informed it was the front diff, by someone I trusted, so I replaced that too. He was wrong & I still had issues. Turns out that my T-case motor was faulty, as well as some spacers in the T/C itself. I was fed up after replacing the front & rear diff myself, so I let a shop fix up the T/C. I will take this to small claims & try my luck there, but not until next year sometime. That's the current scoop.

Hey Jason, how's everything going? I really need to get over on this board a little more often. And thanks once again for helping me get back on the road after blowing my third on our Toy120 trip. If there's anything you need, give me a call.
Robert

Oh yeah, let us know if you're ever wanting to come up here to Las Vegas, we have some pretty cool trails too!

Cool, we'll go up to Logandale and climb some slick rock waterfalls. The trails are black diamonds, and a lot of fun!:bigclap:
