Differential Drop

Differential Drop
I had a 3" Cornfed spacers on my 06 4x4 4runner. I read on the forum regarding differential drop. As I understand, the spacer lower the differential. Installation is another story. Do I need to install the diff drop?
What is the long term effect on my 4runner if I don't install the drop?
Thanks advance for your advice

Search - this is one of the most discussed topics it seems, and both sides get pretty "emotional" about it...
The reason is to make the CV angles shallower. Whether you need to or not is a matter for debate.
It decreases your ground clearance (from lifted, but without diff drop). Whether that's significant or not is a matter for debate.

If you noticed decreased CV boot or joint life, then you might want to lower the diff a bit, but if not, it should be fine as long as you don't see any binding in the CVs at full droop.
