I don't know if it can be fixed. Mine does it too. If you find out, I'd be interested. It's pretty annoying, since everyone looks at you like "oh no, his truck is going to fall apart."

It's PROBABLY, I'm not guaranteeing anything over the net, the steering stops. You have a metal vs plastic situation (I don't recall exactly, I think it's plastic heads on the wheel side, metal plate on the frame, but I may have that bass-ackwards) when you get onto the steering stops, and it makes a horrible noise, bit it's really a totally harmless nothing. You can throw some really thick heavy grease on them to quiet them temporarily, but most Toyota owners just get used to it as a quirk of the beast...

Edit: It's "creak" not "creek". A "creek" is a small stream. It really confused me when I first read the title

It is likely the steering stops as mentioned:

If you read the caption that goes with that picture on the link, you'll see that the plastic cap is missing. There's the plastic part of the equation. It makes a worse sound than just the metal-to-metal does...

Yup, my truck does it too. I just stopped turning my wheel so hard and I pretty much forget about it.
