tires. ugh. help

alright, im the crazy freak that switched out my wheels for my dads off his nissan maxima, just for the 15 inch rims. i believe they are about 15x8. im lookin for some tires that will fit under my truck on those wheels. havin some difficulty. i plan on crankin the torsion bar up some and puttin on longer shackles b4 i get new tires. what is the maximum height i can stick under there without any problems, not small problems, i mean any problems at all. thanks.

Go with 31's. There is no reason they wont fit.

31s will NOT fit. you should be able to get away with 215/75 15 which is like a 27'' tire. anything more and you will need a body lift for clearance. on my truck, with the torsion bars cranked up to almost the max and 1.5'' ball joint spacers, running 235/75 15 which equal out to a 29'' tire rubbed ALOT on the back side of the inner fender well with this amount lift. i put on a 2'' body lift and have no more problems with rubbing.

x2 31's will not fit

My '89 2WD had like 7" lift in Fabtech "Ivan Dan" long travel and 31's STILL rubbed.

Thanks for posting this thread. I will be following also. If anyone has anything to add about the negative gearing consequences of oversized tires on the 2wd, I'd like to hear that also. I'm trying to get a sense of a happy medium that will give me a little more ground clearance without affecting the gearing or cornering too much, as it is an >80% on-road pickup--
Think: rallye-car--daily driver--pick-up hybrid. Thanks all,

they should fit without a problem. i was looking at those exact tires also but i decided invest in 15'' rims for a wider tire selection now and in the future.

one more thing on these tires. if im movin up in size a couple inches (25.9-27) and gettin a couple inches higher all around how much do u think its going to affect my power. cause i rly dont exactly have an unending supply of power comin from my 4cyl 22re. lol.
