Hey, If you really what to haul stuff from time to time a lift will only hinder it. I had a 6" lift on my Ford 4X4 and the bed came up to my chest almost. And you'll have to lift anything your hauling up that far, not fun. And not to mention where you'll have to put the ball for towing. But like someone else said, "I reckon to each his own."

Now these are super interesting. I already did the downey 2" rear lift and would like some more space (I have a heavy toolbox back there and my hitch that added weight).

With these shackles you keep your same ride correct? Also do you have a part number I think I am going to pick up a set of these for my truck.

FAUXbyFOUR - friggen hilarious!

I was able to get a pair of Downey Torsion bars. They are ok but their rear springs were not the best.

I ended up redoing my rear with Northwest Offroad springs and downey shocks. I think I am maybe an inch higher than stock. I drive next to stock bodied pickups and I am right with them.

Still happy with the ride. Just replaced my shocks and front bushings.

Yeah I think for a rwd to really look lifted you need more than a 2" lift.

hmm...pretty old thread. his truck looks a lot different now, long travel up front i think. maybe he'll pop in and post some updated pics. turning a 2wd into a rock crawling trail rig probably isn't the greatest idea, but long travel suspension parts are more readily available for 2wd IFS front set ups and spring under is better for high speed/impact. I'm sure there are more reasons, but ton's of prerunner-type trucks are 2wd. check out race-dezert.com and dezertrangers.com for used parts. if you're patient you'll find what you're looking for guaranteed.
