Quick Topper question

random thinking late at night..and i come up with this

anybody ever put a 1st gen 4runner top on a 2nd gen ext cab pickup..

since the 4runner basically is just a single cab shortbed pickup with rear seats and a top..

and the 4wd ext cab ('84-'88) bed is the same size EXACTLY as the single cab shortbed bed..therefor its the same size as the 4runner's "bed"..

in theory it should fit..but in reality..im not so sure..

care to enlighten me??

if you did that, you'd have to make the bed/body a uni-body type deal.
at that point, you'd be better off just buying a 4runner...

what about a topper from a 3rd gen pickup?????

theres one for sale around here http://tulsa.craigslist.org/pts/1336956086.html
says it should fit up to '95 trucks..it looks like its for ext cab pickups or shortbed pickups..idk how it would fit though??..
i was under the impression that the bed size increased in length and width when the body change happened..

because i love the look of a topper on a ext cab truck..

and i usually haul stuff in my bed that shouldnt ALWAYS be wet..like fishing stuff (LOTS of that..lol bass tournament fisher here..so i got a CRAP LOAD of stuff)..duck hunting equipment..deer hunting equipment..

its just nice to have the dry storage...

or if your like me and you regularly have girls in the truck..its hard to do anything in the LITTLE cab..so the bed would be nice..and even when it rains..it'll be dry..hahaha..i mean i cant even hardly sleep in the front of my truck..

i'd really like a 3rd gen topper that way when i get me a 3rd gen..i can keep the topper..lol

lol...
who needs a truck bed when you have a bed in your room o.0...
anyways.
i think the lengths are the same, but idk about the widths on the beds. plus, the body lines aren't going to match up at all. especially towards the front of the topper...

well when you live with your parents you cant exactly..well lets not go there...HAHAHAHA

wwweeeellllll..as long as it fit the bed nice..and didnt leak of course..i think i could deal with a little bit of body lines not matching...i mean since i will be getting a 3rd gen within the next year or so..and the one that i found is kinda like a 4runner top..which is a plus..

guess i could drive up there..see how it fits my truck..then decide whether or not i want it??

3rd gen bed is wider than a 2nd gen.. about 3" total IIRC.

p.s put better sound insulation in your room... And make sure your bed doesnt go.... weaky weaky weaky weakweakyweaky!!!!
