Quick question before i drop the trans.

im just about to drop the transmission on my 4runner and i just wanted to know if anyone knows where the center point or balance measurment is located. I want to place the trans jack in the right place to avoid any unbalances. lookin for a point (example: 3 inches from the front of the trans on level ground).

thanks, ryan

I have always centered it and used the chains to strap it to the jack.
That is when i just don't pull it out with my knees at the bell housing and arms at the tail.

The transfer case if still attached always seems to make it awkward no mater what.
I have in the past just pulled it separate, but you don't have to.

i would get it under a good solid spot and safety chain it to the jack, and just slowly guide it down and out.

Just carefully guide it down, have a second person control the jack. You might find it will need to be moved as well as lowered when it comes down.
Above all else don't get in the way if it decides to come a tumbling down, let it hit the garage floor, chances are it will only make a big oily mess.

The easy parts getting it out, stabbing that pig back in is the real challenge, be extra careful putting it back in, you will find you have to get under it and twist, curse, threaten, push, and hit it sometimes to get it in.

where in california?
Northern or southen?

which part is hitting?

the shifter itself or the shifter tower?

where on the body, and what are you trig to do, get it out from under the truck or disengaged from the motor?

No problem.

Good call on the OEM clutch. I put in a Napa clutch in my 83 and it already needs to be tore out after only a short run.
