Question for those who have bought new carpet

My 86 4Runner has vents that go under the front seats and blow into the rear. I imagine the models with rear heat didn't have these vents? I am just wondering if the pre-molded carpet for 1st gen are all the same or if some account for that little "hump" from the vents.

Also, what do you do about the dummy rest pedal? Mine appears to have some sort of finished edge around the inside of the cutout (like on the edge of a rug). I am just worried that if I cut an opening out for it that it will fray and look like ass.

Not familiar with either of these, you are going to need to snap some images..

My factory carpet runs right under the foot rest, my rear heater doesn't have any external ducting that I've found.

Carpet is just fabric. It will conform to that little hump.

You mean rest for the clutching foot? You don't cut an opening. You take off the plastic footrest, install carpet and install footrest over the carpet.

Ok so I wonder if my carpet has been replaced already then because i see how it should just under the foot rest.

regarding the carpet just conforming to the hump...right now it's pretty conformed to that hump. I just didn't know how the contoured the replacement carpet is. I know it will be able to cover the hump but I would like for it to contour exactly as it is now and not just cover it. I've never replaced carpet before so just wasn't sure how it fits into valleys and such on the floor.

I've only seen that ducting on schematics and that was last week. I've been into these trucks for 15 years, and a week later, someone posts photos of them... LOL

The carpet should fit around it just fine, i've run big wires under it. It won't have that crease though.

How about building up the area around the duct with thermal and sound insulation? Three birds with one stone:
1) Flatten the floor,
2) Insulate from heat (area above exhaust ),
3) Insulate from noise.

Thats a great idea! I'm definitely adding sound insulation under there before I replace the carpet.
